You said there were spots on the board for adding a SATA drive. What about the power supply? How difficult would it be to add a hard drive? Is there any software that is Apple's to turn it into a Time Capsule?

my airport extreme suddenly stopped working. I can get internet through the ethernet cable direct from provider modem to my computer but not through extreme. I have tried reset and factory reset with no success. The LED indicator on the WAN port indicates it is working but no provider is being detected. If this is a hardware problem does anyone know of a possible repair.

Hi,

My AirPort Extreme started restarting itself repeatedly so I disconnected it from the power supply for A few minutes and then plugged it back again.

Since then the unit Ethernet ports are blinking green but the station main front light remain off.

What can I do? How do I make it work again?

we have a airport extreme 5th gen. unit has quit working i.e. like no power, light is not on. Power supply checks good. does this unit have a fuse or ? or is it just dead now ?

AirPort Extreme A1521: Keyboard beeps when entering password Solved

I have been using this router for several years with no issues. Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station AC. A couple of days ago it starting giving a keyboard beep when trying to enter the fourth character of the password. Password has not changed. This happened on both a 2016 MBP and 2009 iMac. I usually have the three Macs hooked up to it at all times and am having no problems with those. One is hardwired two are wireless. The wireless are a 2008 Mac Pro and a 2010 Mac Mini.

On the customers 2009 iMac I was able to hook up via ethernet cable, it is running El Capitan. The 2016 Touchbar only has thunder ports and running High Sierra. But the beeping on the fourth character I don’t understand. It happens when trying to enter a bracket “[“. I have no idea why this would just come up out of the blue.

UPDATE 9/19/18

I had a couple of machines come in that had been on my network before from a couple of years ago. They were not set to remember the password but had no problem connecting or entering the password.

I have a question today that seems simple, but I have yet to come across a good answer for it. I have a pc rack mount server that I wanted to put in another closet away from my xserves, but I do not have an ethernet connection in that closet, and the server does not have WiFi. I do have an AirPort express lying around and was wondering if I could somehow use that like a wireless adapter with it's ethernet connection. It is the original AirPort express, not the newest one. I am not in need of a super fast connection that ethernet would bring, but just need to get it wireless. I would buy an actual adapter, but I want to see if I can manage with what I have.

Apple Airport Extreme Model A1408: amber light steady, no wifi, reset dysfunctional

Hi Guys,

my trusty old airport extreme did not come back after a restart while I tried to tweak the settings for the bridge / router mode. Now, when i turn it on, it´s the steady amber light, no connection whatsoever and the reset button is not working at all.

I opened the box to see if the reset button was alright and it seems to be ok, physically, with clicking noise and intact solder points.

I don´t want to throw it away, so.. any suggestions what could be the case here?

Hey folks!

I recently updated my AEB to 7.4.2 and it turns out that my MacBook is not able to connect to the Harddrive connected to the AEB. When 7.4.1 was installed (and after downgrading Firmware to 7.4.1) it worked and I could even use it for Backups with TimeMachine.

It's a used AEB, bought on Amazon a year ago, or so. That's why I don't know when it was built etc. But the Model No. is A1143, if this helps.

Would be thankful for any advices.

The smell started 2 weeks before it died but it worked fine until an hour before it died. Then the signal decreased to the point that the internet slowed to unusable, but my iPhone had a great signal right up to the demise. Is this repairable?

AirPort Extreme A1521: Trying to use the A1521 to extend my network

I have replaced my A1521 with a new DLink DIR-890L as my primary wireless router. My older Airport Extreme Base Station hopped on and exteneded DLink wifi network allowing me to network printers via Cat 5 cables. My newer Airport Express acted in kind. When I try to get the A1521 to allow me to "Add to an existing network" it announces that it can't locate any base stations. I don't understand why the newest apple wifi tech I own will not join the same DLink wifi network the older Apple tech hopped onto. Please help. I need the network ports on the A1521 for other non-wifi hardware. Hard reset has not fixed the issue.
