Apple LED Cinema Display: Random Black Screen - Backlight Off - Panel On!

Posting a solution to my own question as I have not seen this answer on here before!

24” Cinema Display - Random Black Screen - Solution

24” Cinema Display, connected to iMac 27” as an external display and it works fine however at random points the screen on the Cinema Display will go black. Checking the screen with a torch I can see the LCD is still on and working as it shows my desktop.

I have hot corners with display sleep turned on so if I move the mouse to the corner the Cinema Display (while already black) properly sleeps, moving the mouse a second later causes the screen to come back on again fully lit.

The time between black screens can be totally random. Sometimes it works for weeks with no problem. Sometimes the black screens return within minutes or even seconds.

Troubleshooting:

Reset PRAM / NVRAM

Reinstall OS - same problem on Sierra, High Sierra and Mojave

Open the Cinema Display and clear out any dust

Reseat all internal cables

None of these fixed the issue. Sometimes they would appear to resolve it but the problem always came back.

Apple LED Cinema Display: Apple Cinema 24: Display turn on after 30 restarts from sleep

Hi,

I just bought Apple LED Cinema Display 24 (A1267) and it has problem with turning on. I have conneted it to my Macbook PRO with Thunderbold Display 27, every display is on seperated USB-C connector.

So the thing is that when I wake up macbook from sleep, LED Cinema 24 blinks really quickly and then goes black. If I use flashlight I can see desktop. After 20-30 attempts from waking up from sleep it’s finally power on. I also made a video what’s going on.

Does anybody have an idea which part needs to be fixed, because any service in my country doesn’t want to accept it on service :(

Have this 24” led Cinema Display for a while, recently, have problems with black screen, but speaker through USB port is still working.
Apple LED Cinema Display: Apple Display A1267 AC Plug Must be Repeatedly Plugged in to Power Up

Apple Genius found a broken wire in the Mini Dvi AIO cord so I replaced the AIO and then Display power cord since there were signs of cracks. Display worked flawlessly for months. Now it’s doing the same thing, A flicker when plugged in so you know when to enter pword.

Then, you need to tease the wall outlet with the display power plug until the display powers up. Apple Genius lady giggled a lot when I told her that with a straight face.

Following advice and posts, I did replace the logic board, and then PSU with known good parts. Display is fine on restarts, not on cold starts. Hot corners off, Pram reset, etc.

I inspected the boards for burnt spot with what I had. An iPhone Macro Lens and an LED magnifying lamp. Nothing burnt.

Display is recognized by two Mac mini’s.

Could this be simply an AC Power Inlet issue and how to check?

Thanks in advance.

Apple LED Cinema Display: Shows only on lowest dim setting? All in on cable? logic board? PSU?

Hello,

I’m only getting a display on this A1267 24’’ Cinema Display when I put the dim setting to the lowest setting.

If I start to increase it by 1% I can see it start flickering.

If I put it really high the display will go off and if I bring the setting all the way back down it does not come back on. I’ve also verified that the speakers are still working when the display turns off, so therefore there is still come kind of power going to the monitor.

The only way for me to turn it back on is to lower the setting all the way back down again, unplug power and replug it back on. However, pretty useless on the super lowest brightness setting.

My question is could this be a power supply, logic board, or all in one cable problem, or is it something else.

Also, there was one time after playing with it for awhile, I was able to bring the screen all the way to it’s brightest setting, I tried putting the computer to sleep and turning it back on and it came back on as normal. I then proceeded to try and unplug the power and replug it back in, the monitor flashed and it did not come back on. I had to adjust the setting back to low, unplug, replug, and it is back on, I’ve since had no luck in getting it back to it’s highest brightness setting.

Please help. Thank you.

Apple LED Cinema Display: Diagnosis for A1267 Cinema Display with no USB but working MagSafe

So here is the rundown:

I got this display on Craigslist for cheap.

When plugging in, it supplies my 2011 MBA power via MagSafe but:

-The panel shows no signs of life

-System Report on the MBA doesn't register any external USB or iSight devices

When opened, the power supply has some residue on the front of the board.

Going through the deep dive for Dead Unit/No Power in Apple's technician PDF:

1. No

2. No, unless somehow the MBA 2011 11" isnt a 'supported system'

3. No voltage on TP11

4. No voltage on TP61

9. No voltage on TP61 or TP13

Conclusion: Replace logic board

So even though there is some residue on the power supply board, there still seems to be issues with the logic board.

When I unplug the 7 pin power connector from the logic board, it has these voltages from left to right, 0 - 7:

1. Nothing: zero volts to anything else

2. Ground

3. 6V to GND

4. 6V to GND

5. 6V to GND

6. 30V to GND

7. 30V to GND

I am left thinking that my Logic Board needs some help..

Please let me know anything else I can post to help with a solution

Thanks,

Timothy

I have trouble believing that both of these displays suffered different failures at the exact same moment.

Are there common troubleshooting steps after I open them up?

Apple LED Cinema Display: How to change right speaker on ACD?

On Apple Cinema Display, how do I change the right speaker? Left speaker is working fine. But the right speaker is not putting out any sound. When I said right speaker I'm referring to the speaker on the right side of the Apple Cinema Display. If we're looking at the display, it would be on the left side. Any suggestions?
