Dehumidifier: Replacing the capacitor to the compressor in a dehumidifier

Seeking advice on replacing a capacitor to the compressor in an dehumidifier. The capacitor in question is a CBB61 3 wire 7uF 450V one, made New Tech. It is also rated at 50/60Hz

I have searched all over the internet to try to find one which is of the same ratings, with 3 wires to allow for a straight swap, however 3 wire capacitors do not seem that common, especially at the above values. I am instead now looking to swap it for a 4 wire capacitor or 2 wire capacitor and was hoping for some advice on how to go about doing this. The capacitor has one wire from the dehumidifier's main board which connects into it. 2 wires, a red and white then lead away from the capacitor to connect to the compressor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance J.

Dehumidifier: Dehumidifier Lifetime z z

We moved into our newly built house more than 12 years ago. It has a large poured concrete basement. We purchased a dehumidifier to lower the humidity in the summer months. We have replaced this humidifier by sending it to the county landfill 8 times in the 12 year period. Most of the time we had 2 dehumidifiers running at a time so the lifetime is more than 2 years even though the failure rate is less than 2 years. However, I am planting 1 dehumidifier in the landfill every 1.5 years and they are not a perennial but an annual.

Without fail I have explored more than one repair facility at every failure and I was told, with out fail, that it is much less expensive to replace than repair.

It would seem to me that dumping 8 dehumidifiers in the landfill has a worse impact on the environment than recharging the coolant gas. Perhaps there is some compromise legislation which would ban dumping large quantities of dehumidifiers into the landfills and requiring the manufacturers of dehumidifiers to make it easy to replace the coolant gas.

After all, I have already dumped my load into the atmosphere when the dehumidifier has failed. I can't believe that dumping the rest into the landfill somehow balances out. Perhaps the air quality brand of the EPA needs to interact with the water quality branch of the EPA. If they would like I could give them an address and phone number for each.

Keystone KSTAD70A: KSTAD70B Compressor seems to stay on inappropriately, starting icing

Hi:

I have the Keystone Dehumidifier Model KSTAD70B, it is very similar to the ‘A’ version. It has recently started icing-up and it appears it will run the compressor even when the fan is shut off. In fact, recently while it was seeming to run normally (cycles always start OK) I tested it by pressing the power button on the top panel, the lights went off as did the fan but the compressor just kept going. Per the ‘block’ schematic on the machine it would seem it is the power relay sticking that would cause this problem. Has anyone else had this issue? Eventually the compressor does shut off but only after it gets really hot . Is the relay the likely fix? I`ve already ordered a couple on ebay for $3 to try.

Thanks!

Tom

Dehumidifier: Hisense Model DH-35K1SJE5 does not switch on | Diagnostic Help Sought

UPDATE 30 Jun 2025: There is no power in the red wires (circled in green). Also, the fuse (circled in orange) is blown … we only just discovered the fuse this time around. Ref. Photo 9. We can readily replace the fuse, of course, but wonder if it is pointing to failure of another component? Thoughts?

ORIGINAL POST:

When we switched on our plumbed-in Hisense dehumidifier this season, it worked initially, but had stopped working (control panel had gone dark) when we checked on it the next day.

We found a manual online but it does not address how to diagnose issues.

Seeking help with how to troubleshoot/repair.

Trotec TTK 25 E Dehumidifier: Dehumidifier stops after start-up, tank-full and defrost LEDs blinking

I can switch this dehumidifier on after turning it off & on again at the socket to allow the control board capacitors to drain, and the compressor does start up, but then after 10 seconds it stops, and both the indicator lights for tank-full status (red) and defrost cycle (orange/amber/yellow-ish) flash at the same time.

The operating manual does not mention this error.

I have checked that the bucket is properly seated and the fill-switch works - when the bucket is removed, only the red full status LED blinks, and the compressor will not start at all if I power up the device in that state. Removing or replacing the bucket while the device is on switches between the two aforementioned error states.

I have had this dehumidifier for just over 4 years now, running it for a few months each year, and it has been used in fairly cold conditions this winter, but never outside its rated operating range. I am currently testing it in a room at 18 degrees Celsius, where it has had over a day to warm up, so this makes no sense to me.

The normal behaviour was that in a cold room it would occasionally run a defrost cycle, with the amber LED lit up constantly while it warmed the coils, then continued working with that light off.
