DualShock 2: Dualshock 2 controller not working/answering.

The controller is not working for some strange reason.

I have dissembled the controller and cleaned it from the inside then putting it back together.

The controller responds only when you press the analog button and it thinks you`re pressing X.

I think the wires are broken, so is there any way you can test do they work?

I have tried the controller both on PS1 and PS2.

I have tried another controller which work on both consoles.

I have tried looking faults in the wiring.

I really don`t know what to do anymore, so I would be more than happy if someone would shed some light on the subject.

DualShock 2: left analog stick is becoming increasingly squeaky

Hello,

My Dual Shock 2 is still working well after all these years! However, the left analog stick is becoming increasingly squeaky, and has begun to stick on rare occasion, but still functions near perfectly 99.9% of the time. Is there a simple trick to loosen the stick, and perhaps any buttons such as square and X, to prevent squeaking and sticking, using a household lubricant product such as WD 40?

Thank you,
Daniel McNamara
