Google Pixel 7 Pro: Strange internal part after tearing down Pixel 7 Pro

Hi everyone, I recently went to a third-party repair shop to replace the broken screen on my Pixel 7 Pro. I paid for a so-called “original” screen the shop claimed to purchase for me, but the quality was obviously poor—there were thick black borders and the display looked worse than before.

I returned the next day to have the screen removed. During the screen removal, I took a photo of the internal structure of my phone and noticed a small piece of transparent plastic film above the sensors area.

I checked teardown images of Pixel 7 Pro on iFixit, and this plastic film doesn’t seem to be part of the original design. I also contacted Google official CS and they told me there shouldn't be a plastic film. This makes me wonder if the technician may have added or modified something during the first repair.

Would really appreciate any insight!

(The phone is closed now as I later bought an original screen myself and asked another shop to install it. New screen is ok. However, I just observed this plastic film when scrolling through my album. I feel confused why this area is different to the teardown image from iFixit.)

Google Pixel 7 Pro: Intermittent touchscreen issue after any minor drop

An interesting (albeit frustrating) issue recently manifested with my Pixel 7 Pro, and I can't seem to find any other reports quite like it via Google. I'm hoping someone on this forum is familiar enough with the hardware under the hood to give me an idea of what might be happening and what, if anything, I can do to mitigate this.

The issue occurs after any minor drop, and it has occurred multiple times now in the same way. After a minor drop (~2 feet w/ case), the screen at first becomes completely non-responsive -- just black. After about a minute, the power button will cause the screen to turn on, but the touchscreen will not work at all. I can force restart the phone at this point using the power + volume up button procedure, and the screen comes back on, but the touchscreen still doesn't work at all. Eventually, after multiple restarts and several minutes to half an hour of waiting, touchscreen functionality will come back, seemingly at random. At first it's hit-or-miss, failing intermittently only to come back just as suddenly. Eventually it goes back to normal -- but another minor impact will start this process over.

What's going on here? It feels like some kind of loose connection perhaps, but is there anything I could check? It seems odd to me that the phone seems to "get better" after a rest period, almost like the drop is resetting something that needs to "heal" before it works again. Obviously, that's not how electronics work, but I can't explain it any other way.

Any insight would be much appreciated!

Google Pixel 7 Pro: FIngerprint sensor not woring after BATTERY replacement

Hello,

I replaced the battery earlier today. After installing it everything was fine including the fingerprint sensor. I left it charging and checked it some time later. The fingerprint sensor was no longer working. I tried adding another fingerprint but it said that there is a problem with the sensor so I tired restarting it. Now there is no fingerprint unlock option in the settings and the circle that lights up when you press the sensor isn't there.

I tried calibrating using https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/udfps but it still doesn't work.

It is good to mention that when reconnecting the screen, the spudger slipped and bent the screen cable. The damage is between the data lines and as I said, everything was fine for a while.

What do I do?

Google Pixel 7 Pro: Fingerprint reader not working on new screen, how to troubleshoot?

I recently changed the screen of my Pixel 7 Pro, the display and the touch feature both work well; the fingerprint does not.

When I try to setup the Fingerprint Unlock android feature, I immediately get the following error on the Touch and hold the fingerprint sensor screen:

Fingerprint setup timed out
Fingerprint enrollment didn't work. Try again or use a different finger.

Things I tried but didn't fix the issue:

Ran the official repair app on: https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carri... (after successfully pairing with my phone, the app displays an error stating that the software on my phone is newer than that of the tool and is unable to scan it).

Factory reset.

Re-opened the phone and double-checked the screen-to-frame connector.

Doubled-checked the sensor-to-screen connector (came installed but I disconnected and connected it back).

Downloaded and installed the Android USB driver for windows on my PC https://developer.android.com/studio/run...

Successfully ran the Update and Software Repair Tool on https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/udfps

None worked, however after doing point 6, the error message takes more time to appear.

Before the new screen I remember my screen would turn very bright white on and around the fingerprint sensor, now it doesn't.

I have the fingerprint sensor from my old screen ready to install on the new screen but before risking damaging the new screen, I thought I asked here:

Is there any other way to troubleshoot the fingerprint reader via software to be sure it's not working?

Google Pixel 7 Pro: Screen replacement touch not working

Hello, I recently had my power button break and start spamming input on my Pixel 7 Pro. During the replacement, I cracked my screen. Unfortunate, but I ordered the OEM screen replacement and followed the install instructions carefully.

Unfortunately, I have display, but have no touch control on the screen. It also appears to be spamming input near the top of the screen.

I have tried carefully removing and reseating the cable and made sure to not touch the screen as it booted. Is this a defective part or are there other potential solutions? I have not seated it with the adhesive since the guide said it should work before reinstalling the screen. Any help would be appreciated, or if I need to try and get it replaced if it's just defective. Thanks
