Kindle 3: Screen shows several titles, but the battery has been removed

My Kindle keyboard screen looks like it is powered up with a list of titles on the screen, but the battery has been completely removed. I have tried to reset the unit, several times, still the same thing. Unit will not charge, either. Any suggestions?

Kindle 3: Text to Speech is not working.

The text to speech is no longer working. Kindle still powers to 100% but I only get a few slow..... words and then nothing. Love my text to speech! Can it be fixed?

Kindle 3: Can't put book in "read" folder anymore

I have many folders on my Kindle K3 ereader including a "read" folder to put books in after I read them. Lately, when I finish a book, the "transfer to folder" option is grayed out and I can't move the book into my "read" folder. Does any one know why and what I can do to get it back? I tried a hard restart with no results.

Kindle 3: Wet kindle doesn't work correctly

The top 1-2 inches of my Kindle 3 got wet. Took it apart and dried thoroughly. Screen works, but controls do not function appropriately and I can’t access books. Keeps wanting me to connect to wi-fi, over and over again. Anything I can do to fix it?

Hi everyone,

I will tell u the problems right now....

My kindle 3 showed the following screen "EMPTY BATTERY", so i tried to charged it for several hours and that seemed to work. Orange LED turned to Green LED and the kindle was alive. After a few pages, the screen froze on the sleep mode and the GREEN LED turned off. I tried to charge it again, and i saw the same result as before, but now, the LED is everytime green and it turn OFF after 5/7 seconds with a blanked page on the screen. Now im using m,y kindle while it is in charge, if i remove it to the charge, it will freeze and turn off again? any solutions? if the LED is Green, then the problem isn't the battery?

Kindle 3: Display is frozen, but Kindle is working

Several days ago in the morning my kindle stopped reacting on power button. It shows only a screensaver.

I had used it in the previous evening. I didn't drop it, it has not any damages.

I tried to charge it all the day - it didn't help.

I tried to reset it(using power button and switch on mother board) - didn't help.

I suppose that it is working but doesn't show a picture.

When it is attached to PC I can browse Kindle file system. I even can update firmware.

Kindle3 never used, when connected to charger it will not charge and orange light is flashing.

The battery is fine, nothing wrong with screen, its updated, I can read and search on it everything works fine except when I try to connect to kindle store! Then I have bars connected to the internet, but when I try connect to kindle store it says unable to connect at this time try later, as soon as that happens the buttons and screen seizes up and require a reboot! I've done all the resets and reboots, even the one where you hold the home button and push del I've removed battery and re installed, nothing changes seizes every time I try to connect! I ordered books 3 days ago now I cant!

Kindle 3: It only gives me the yellow light. No life other than that what's wron

The Kindle is plugged in and only the yellow/orange light comes on. I have books I would like to download, but I don't know what I need to fix this problem. There is no life in the Kindle 3 but the charge light.

My kindle has been sat on and the glass screen itself is okay but it seems that the issue is internal because I cannot see the contents of the kindle as it's cracked. Can this be fixed?

I dropped a hair brush on my beloved kindle and now the top won't display text or image. I can partially read the page, but there are also lines shooting horizontally and vertically. Can this be fixed with a new screen?

Kindle 3: How to diagnose a frozen screen

I recently got a Kindle with the screen stuck in the loading screen (not reading a book under a tree with a loading bar) no matter what I do.

I tried using the Kubrick tool found here, which went through successfully.

So now I have a Kindle with a fresh firmware 3.4 but the screen is still unresponsive.

Considering I was able to put the Kindle in download mode and flash something, I don’t think it’s a motherboard fault like in this thread.

I suspect it may be the e-ink display but I don’t want to order it online just yet if I’m not sure, partly because I don’t trust the build quality of random Chinese sellers on the internet - I’m assuming the OEM part is of a better quality, so if there’s nothing wrong with it, I hope to keep using it.

Other clues I’ve gathered are that despite charging for really quite long, I don’t get a green LED (in the above iFixit thread, the user mentions getting a green LED after fully charged)

I read somewhere that you can control the screen using the UART. I don’t mind trying that if I knew how haha

If anyone has any suggestions for me to fix this I’d greatly appreciate it.

Kindle 3: Troubleshooting Case Light Not Turning On

I recently bought a used kindle keyboard that came with a case-the kind that has a light in the upper right corner that slides out to power on and connects on the left side with two pins. The kindle is working great so far but I have not been able to get the case light working. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot it/restart it/repair it? It would be really handy to use the light.

Has anyone successfully repaired one of these? The only forums I've been able to find have been from 2011-2012 and have said to replace the cover.

What I've tried so far:

Restarting the kindle

Pulling the light out all the way

Ensuring the pins are attached correctly & re attaching them

Any info would be appreciated, thanks :)
