LG G6: My device overheated and now my touchscreen wont work when I open any

Hi everyone. I’ve had my G6 for about 7 months. The other night I slept on it and It overheated. Once it cooled down the screen went back to functioning. Today I thought the touchscreen was broken, but it’s not. I can open up any application on my phone but when the application is open it doesn’t respond. I don't want to do a hard reset because I doubt it’s a software issue. Any help is appreciated. Like I said, the main screen lock screen works. I can click on and open any application and switch to the different pages on my main page. Yeah, so I’m brining it into to get it fixed if no one has an idea how to fix it externally.

Also I might add that some gaming applications actually work once open. It seems to be the ones with a scrollbar that actually break. It’s strange, maybe I should try a hard reset. But the last thing I want is to loose everything on my phone. If you guys recommend a hard reset or factory reset, please provide a way to save all my data. (mainly my notes and accounts) so I don't have to log in 500 things again. Yeah as said the games actually play for a bit but when I bring the top scrollbar down it freezes on that till I lock and unlock and press the home-screen circle

LG G6: How to tell if motherboard has been damaged from a fall?

Dropped it from about 3 ft onto cement, glass is cracked and screen will only display one single vertical line from top to bottom. My question is there a way to tell if just the LCD and digitizer needs to be replaced or is something on the motherboard messed up too? I think I'm handy enough to attempt a screen repair but don't want to burn 100$ on a futile repair. Vibrator motor seems to respond to power button inputs and it does make a sound when power button is held like to power on or off. Thanks for your input.

I replaced my cracked screen on my Lg g6 and since the part that is circled in blue ink in the picture no longer works. It charges fine, Google play music app works perfect, and I can hear notifications. I am currently using another phone so not sure if can hear the ring tone. The only way I can hear someone or they hear me is if I use a headset that you plug into the audio jack or using the speaker phone. I also tried replacing the Usb C Port flex cable but that did not change anything.

LG G6: Phone displays false water damage water damage and intermittent usb pr

Recently the phone has been displaying usb connection when the cord is not physically inside the port. Initially, the phone displayed moisture inside the port and promts the user to extract any liquid inside the port prior to charging the device. An important note about this issue is that no water was present when the issue was initially noticed. Methods of "drying" the device were implemented. Rice and canned air techniques temporarily solved the issue. Attempting to use another usb cord has no effect on this issue. Other threads have suggested to clean the port with alcohol and toothpicks however I am hesitant to anytype of liquid cleaning because I am a novice at this type repair. Given the situation, this suggests that their is an issue with the mechanism that senses water in the usb port and the software that has to do with this port.

So, I don't know what to do from here. I can send the phone to LG and have them look at it but i really like the phone beside the issue that I have posted here; everything else about the phone is excellent. Before I start to seriously consider opening the phone I want to exhaust all possible routes of fixing this issue before I have to send the phone anywhere.

LG G6: Digitizer damage or logic board - which is more likely?

Hi all,

I have an LGUS997 G6+, which was recently water damaged. Initially the screen was not working at all, but after removing corrosion from the display connector and a few other spots with 99% isopropyl alcohol, the display now works fine, but the touch input is still not working.

I'd say about 85% of the time, there's no response to touch, or there is a response but it's too brief to actually trigger any UI elements. About 5% of the time it works correctly, and the remaining 10%, touching the screen triggers sort of ghost touches - the device recognises the input but in a different part of the screen, often in multiple different spots at once, with no consistent pattern. I haven't seen any true ghost touches, i.e. input being recognised when there's no actual touch.

My intuition is that these particular symptoms point more towards the digitizer being damaged than the logic board, although I know the only way to find out for sure is to replace the parts. So I have two questions:

In your experience, am I right to think the digitizer is more likely to be at fault, or is it just as likely to be the logic board?

Is it safe to immerse the screen assembly in isopropyl? I have seen advice not to do this with iPhones because the alcohol will damage a coating on the screen, but I don't know if that would also apply to this device.

Thanks for reading, any other suggestions also gratefully accepted.
