Magic Keyboard: Certain keystrokes producing multiple characters

My keyboard has started malfunctioning where every time I press certain keys, I get two characters instead of the single character it ought to be. Here are the character sets being affected

56

-/

ty

=[

gh

bn

For example, when I press '5', it produces '56', and the same when I press '6'. It too produces '56'. Same for the whole list above.

Note too the apparent pattern down the keyboard with the '56', 'ty', 'gh', and 'bn' combos.

I've checked battery level. It's nearly full charge. I've tried using while plugged in and charging. I've tried gently lifting affected keys and blowing out any possible dust, particles, etc. None of this has helped.

Magic Keyboard: Can I replace the slippery Magic KeyB keys with replacement MBP keys?

I love the feel of the MBP keys. I’ve bought three Magic keyboards over the last few years, but only one had the same feel (It broke and I recycled it, stupidly). Now I’m using the Magic Keyboard 2 (Not the latest one with Touch ID), but I hate the slippery and clicky feel, so much less grip. The keys on the MBP are perfect, but I can’t use them due to RSI and neck pain.

TL;DR - Can I buy a set of MBP keys and swap them out on my Magic Keyboard 2 (Wirelesss with rechargeable battery version). This Magic Keyboard seems to be the exact same type of mechanism as my 16" MBP.

Magic Keyboard: 2 keys registered as simultaneously pressed, when they're not

Hello good people,

Here's the situation:

When I press either the return/enter key or the P key on my Magic Keyboard, the keyboard/computer registers both keys as being pressed at once; they are "paired", if you will. This has been verified with the "Show keyboard viewer" feature enabled. Very bizarre. I've tried unpairing and pairing again multiple times, to no avail. It continues to happen even when connected to my MBP through the lightning cable and bluetooth turned off.

The portentous background to this is that I'd recently applied some rubbing alcohol to two keys on the other side of the keyboard that were sticking, though I did manage to get mixed up a few times and likely got some isopropyl underneath the keys in question as well. So I'm guessing that it's related, but it's still weird as !&&*!

Anyone got any ideas?

Magic Keyboard: Is wired connection to PC possible?

Hello,

I read in some Magic Keyboard tests that it does not actually need Bluetooth to work. If you just plug the lighting/USB cable to your Mac and turn off Bluetooth, it works.

I was wondering if the same was possible with a PC not equipped with Bluetooth, i.e. is the Magic Keyboard working when plugged with the cable into a PC.

Magic Keyboard: 1 and 2 keys stopped working

I just recently acquired a pre-loved late-2015 21.5 iMac with A1644 keyboard. All worked 100% till just now when the 1 and 2 numeric keys stopped working. Not on their own nor when combined with shift. No liquid spills or the like. The overall condition of all components is like new - extremely well looked after. I’ve given it a shake, light tap in an attempt to dislodge whatever could possibly be stuck underneath it, but to no avail. Please help…

Magic Keyboard: Replace the larger keys

Hi, I’ve seen a couple of answers on here about removing and replacing the keycaps.

I spilt lemonade on my keyboard - luckily all the keys still worked but they were sticky. I decided to remove the keys, clean the keys with water and the switches with alcohol. The small letter keys are easy to remove and replace, but the larger keys (command, control etc) with the metal bars, I just can’t seem to get back on - when I try the keys get stuck all the way down. Has anyone got any tips on how to reapply these keys?

Many thanks in advance :D

Magic Keyboard: Can the keycaps on the keyboard be put back?

I have all the keycaps intact, but the small plastic mechanism thing on the T key is busted.

Context: I spilt water on it , and I couldn't find out how to get the water out of there effectively. So i just removed the keycaps and now I can't put them back.

The method I used to remove the keycaps was stupidly crude. I used a earwax scoop as a lever to forcefully pull the keycaps out of their sockets .

Magic Keyboard: Magic Keyboard is Devouring Batteries - any solutions?

Three weeks ago my keyboard started gobbling at least 2 pair of fully charged batteries per day (often 3 pair per day). I have no idea how to fix it and am unsure if the problem is with the keyboard or computer. The batteries are not the issue - I purchased 24 new ones... I've always used energizer rechargeables in both the keyboard and mouse without any problem.

I'm using the 1st generation magic keyboard and magic mouse on a 2010 iMac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 There are no other bluetooth devices connected.

I'd like to purchase a new keyboard as a last resort considering I just acquired $36 worth of batteries...
