after turning on i put my password then it takes me to a black screen that has a cursor.I tried to press CTRL+Shift+Windows+B and it does not work it just makes a beep sound then the black screen is still there and when i turn off or try to restert it from the lockscreen it still has the same problem

On using my 5 year old Lenovo ideal pad 340 laptop for over an hour (without charger connected) it suddenly stooped working and would not power up anymore, even with the charger connected up. What could be the fault?

PC Desktop: PC reset after Windows boot process

Just is my PC is about to complete its boot of windows, it’s as if somebody hit the reset and it starts all over again from CMOS. It continues to do this time after time it gets done with the CMOS boot begins to boot windows and just as it’s about done it starts all over again. The cycle continues.

HP Elitebook x360 1030 G8: How to replace display hinges?

I currently daily drive an HP elitebook 1030 g8, and have recently noticed that he hinges have seriously deteriorated! To the point where several angles beyond 150 degrees will cause the display to fall flat.

I have 2 other systems that may provide me with the parts to solve this issue:

Elitebook 1030 g4
Elitebook 830 g8

If either of these are suitable for a replacement, and you know the method to engage this process please help!
I also do need directions on how to execute this repair because little/no repair material is available online.

My sister has an Acer VN7-591G laptop that won't boot (black screen, no output to HDMI)

She wants me to get the photos off her hard drive.

No problem I thought. I've popped out the HDD, but it is empty other than an old "iMovie Backup" directory.

Looking at the specs, it is supposed to be a dual HDD/SDD, so I assumed that the Windows installation and all her photos are on the SDD

However, there is no SSD in the machine! According to this guide:

there should be an M.2 SSD on the bottom left of the motherboard. But that slot is EMPTY!!

How, if there is nothing but a few random files on the HDD was this machine ever booting? Is there somewhere else that Acer hide the SDD? I certainly can'y see anything...

It is so strange - it looks like it had an SSD (As the hard drive is empty), but its not there! What am I missing?!?
