Samsung Laptop: Laptop shuts down randomly

Hi, my R430 Samsung laptop randomly shuts down within 1 hr of booting up, even with very minimal usage. No blue screen. Power light is either red or red flashing with amber. Battery has been dead for a while so I just run it on power.

Is it most likely an adaptor problem, or a motherboard short circuit ? Thanks

Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 13”: Screen turns off with certain pressure applied.

I’m working on a friend’s Samsung Notebook 9 Pro NP930MBE, the 13.3-inch 2-in-1 model, and I’m trying to confirm the likely cause before opening it up further.

The reported issue was that the internal display would flicker on and off, but the problem appears to be more involved. When I first received it, the screen showed no visible image under normal lighting. However, I could see a very dim image when shining light on the panel at an angle, which initially made me suspect a backlight issue.

I set it aside and tested it again the following day. This time, the display powered on normally and looked bright and vibrant. After running for a while, it began flickering and eventually went dark again. External video output through a dock works flawlessly every time, so the GPU and external display output appear to be functioning normally.

I then noticed that lightly thumping the laptop on the desk would sometimes cause the internal display to come back on. After testing the lid movement, I found that the screen’s behavior is strongly affected by its position. If I push the lid farther back and leave it there, the display generally stays on. Applying pressure as though I am closing the lid, or positioning it at certain angles closer to being shut, causes the display to cut out.

I have already reseated the display ribbon cable at the motherboard connector, but that did not change the behavior. Windows also continues to detect the internal panel even when the screen is dark.

My current theory is that one or more conductors inside the display cable are cracked or damaged near the hinge, causing the backlight connection to intermittently open depending on the lid position. Before replacing the cable or disassembling the display assembly, I wanted to see whether anyone familiar with this model or these symptoms thinks I may be overlooking another likely cause.

Samsung Laptop: Screen became black all of a sudden (PHOTOS INCLUDED)

samsung np sa 31

Hi guys, I'm new here and really hope I can get some help :)

I was using my laptop normally, I turned it off, by pressing the power button and then closing the lid if I remember correctly since I was in a hurry.

After coming back to the device, the screen just wouldn't turn on! It just stayed black.

I tried everything. Messed around with the BIOS, reconnected the LCD cable, repositioned the RAM sticks and tried to run it with only one of the sticks, removed the CMOS battery and then placed it back, tried to clear static via power button, and much more, INCLUDING buying a whole new screen! The same problem still persists.

The laptop is fully working when connected to an external display via VGA cable, you can see everything on the screen when you flash with a flashlight on it (same for the original LCD and the brand new one I bought).

I have no idea what's wrong. I fully disassembled the laptop and I will add imaged of the motherboard, to me, nothing seems out of place and no fuses are burnt (the heat sink was removed for the sake of the photo), but maybe you guys will know what to look for and I'm just missing something.

Samsung NP350V5C-S0QAE: Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed) with all storage devices - Samsung NP350V5C-S0QAE

My Samsung NP350V5C-S0QAE laptop is experiencing a universal USB issue. When I connect any external storage device (USB flash drive or external HDD), I get an "Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)" error in Device Manager.

Interestingly, simple USB devices like a mouse or keyboard work perfectly on all ports. The issue occurs on both the motherboard-integrated ports (left side) and the secondary USB assembly board ports (right side).

What I have tried so far:

1. Uninstalling all USB controllers and Root Hubs in Device Manager and restarting.

2. Disabling "USB Selective Suspend" in Power Options.

3. Unchecking "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for all USB Hubs in Device Manager.

4. Performing a hard reset (removing battery/charger and holding the power button for 60 seconds).

5. Toggling "Fast BIOS Mode" and "USB Charge" settings in the BIOS.

6. Updating drivers via Samsung Update.

My battery works normally and the laptop does not shut down randomly. Since the problem affects all ports only when high-power/storage devices are connected, I suspect a 5V power delivery issue on the motherboard or a specific Intel USB 3.0 controller failure.

Has anyone encountered this specific "Port Reset Failed" behavior on this model, and is there a known board-level fix or a specific driver version that resolves this?
