Sony SRS-XB30: No power and not charging, lots of shorted caps to ground on motherboard

How can I locate the cause of many capacitors that are shorted to ground (continuity beep on both sides of capacitors) on my Sony SRS-XB30 motherboard?

I bought 48 units of these speakers to fix and almost all of them don't power on and don't charge. Upon taking them apart and looking inside, some boards have a burnt capacitor near the battery connection inside. Simply replacing this capacitor won't fix the problem. I've checked all of the capacitors on the board and many of them are shorted to ground (both sides). How can I locate the root cause of all of these bad caps or does it sound like the motherboard is fried and no longer repairable?

Whoever had experience with repairing bluetooth speakers that don't power on and don't charge with lots of bad caps, please give me some input/advice.

SONY SRS-X2: Bypass battery and use it only with DC power

Hi,

I have a Sony SRS-X2, and I know that it is possible to replace the battery, but this just delay the problem for X months.

I would like to use it as a non-portable speaker, just plug it into the DC adapter and turn it on.

As my battery is completely dead, and this model does not play while charging, I cannot use it.

With the speaker plugged in, I have the orange light (charge) but if I turn the device ON, the orange light turn off and stop charging, 2 seconds after, the speaker stop working (battery is dead) and then turn it off and go back to charge mode.

So, is it possible to open it and remove the battery completely or bypass it, so the power does not go into the battery but to use the speaker?

Thanks!

Sony SRS-XB100: Any type of bass blows out the speaker. Can't open it.

Disclaimer: This is a demonstration speaker that was replaced by Sony. It probably got a lot of use by customers at way too high of a volume for extended periods of time. I got it for free, so I'm kind of just checking what I could do with it.

It seems to me that something is blown in the speaker. I'm not an audio expert, so I'm not too sure what part could be the problem. I heard something about gluing things to fix it, so I wanted to open it.

The model is very similar to the SRS-XB10, but the base of the speaker is not fixed with screws, so I'm unsure how to open it. It seems to be by design and I have not found any resources online pertaining to repairs for this model. If anyone as any experience with this or a similar model, please let me know. I'm looking for a low-cost solution and mostly to learn new stuff.

Edit:

Since this speaker was used as a demonstration, it was fixed to a display case. It seems the way Sony designed it, they had to drill holes in the case. The loss of air from the now unfilled holes must be what is causing the distortion so the passive radiator can't do its job properly. I think that's the culprit, cause after opening and removing the bottom part of the case that includes the passive radiator, I attempted to put only the top part of the speaker against other surfaces. After resting it on top of my bed on the soft mattress, the sound was very clean, but obviously lacked bass. Still better than the bass going haywire!

I'm planning to fill the holes from the inside with some kind of polymer glue, maybe sand it down, make it pretty. The top two holes were clearly drilled through, while the bottom one is meant to hold the plastic pin that secures the charger cover, which is missing. If anyone wants to weigh in and confirm that they think it's the right approach, feel free to do so!
