iPad 3 Wi-Fi: Can the new iPad use the iPad 2 Smart covers?

I just got an iPad 3 or "the New iPad" but I haven't gotten a case for it yet and I am considering buying a smart cover or a case with magnets that can use the same sleep/wake function as the smart cover.

Looking on Amazon, I saw that some had the same ability, but warn that the sleep/wake function is inaccessible on the iPad 3. As far as I know, it might be because the sensors were moved to a different location.

So, as the question above states, can I use a Smart Cover made for an iPad 2 on my iPad 3 and still get the all the functions including the sleep/wake ability?

Hi! I had an Ipad 7 bought in Nov 2019. It was doing fine until very recently where it just suddenly shut down, no warning, while in normal use. It got stuck in a boot loop; recovery mode and DFU doesn’t help at all since it would not recover/update when plugged into iTunes. Error log from iTunes update says the device disconnected before the update can be done, and 3uT flashing log shows failure at 19% every time. I brought it to an AASP as a last ditch effort and, sure enough, they can’t do the repair.

Things are pointing towards hardware failure and a fancy paperweight, but what are the odds of saving the device?

Hello :) I own 9th gen iPad, that doesn't charge and I can't turn it on. I'm trying to diagnose it, I have basic knowledge in fixing electronics.

I have iBridge A3 Lightning port tester, everything is green during test.
I have dissasembled iPad, connected power power supply directly to board (4V) (everything but power button was disconnected from board), there was no current draw so i think it excludes any obvious short circuit. After pressing power button iPad starts to draw about 0.95-0.12A and nothing happens. I have also connected display to board to check if anything displays, but no. Nothing heats enough so I can feel by touch, I have also tried freeze spray test but I didn't notice anything warm/hot.

Can somebody provide me any directions? Despite all green on iBridge tester, can it be Tristar chip? Or is it dead cpu? I hope somebody can give me some directions. I have hot air station and access to microscope, so I can resolder something, but I need some guidance what else to check. :)

Hi there. Thank you in advance for fielding my inquiry. We have a gen 7 iPad purchased new in Dec. 2019. A few weeks ago, while using it, the screen went brown, then black and was unresponsive to charging on Macbook and PC. When plugged into the outlet, it turned on and showed full battery status. After using it for a short time, once again it went black and has been unresponsive ever since.

We took the device to the Apple store and they told us that the internal board is the problem and deemed it unfixable. When asked what the cause could be, they said that it could be a manufacturer defect but since it is beyond the warrantee, the cost for a new 7 gen (no longer manufactured but stocked for such a situation) would be $249.

I would like to know if the internal board is indeed replaceable and if so, would the cost be reasonable? In addition, do you have any suggestions for where to start to find a local technician?

iPad A3354: My iPad is connecting and dropping WIFI in a 10 second loop.

My iPad connects to my WIFI then after about 10 seconds it drops it and searches to connect again. I'm sitting next to a Roku then keeps it's connection so I believe it is not a problem with the WIFI itself.

Does anyone know where I can find a USB-C assembly for this model? It looks similar to the one on the 6 but I have a hunch that it’s not the same. Can anyone verify this or point me towards where I can find a new one? I did find the one on AliExpress but it’s in China and $40. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not being cheap, I just want to verify it’s a unique part before spending more than a few bucks.

iPad 10: iPad 10 Boot Loop - Won't Enter Recovery Mode After "Pop" Sound

My iPad 10 is stuck in a boot loop and won't enter Recovery Mode. It started after I heard a 'pop' sound while toggling auto-brightness. The screen went black, but I could still hear Siri. Now, when I plug it in, it shows the Apple logo briefly, then dies and restarts, but never shows the 'dead battery' icon or the 'computer/restore' icon. I checked the analytics and saw several 'Reset Counter' logs, but no 'Panic Full'. I've tried the button combinations for Recovery Mode (Vol Up, Vol Down, hold Top Button) while connected to a Mac/PC, but it just keeps looping. Is this a blown backlight filter, a battery sensing issue, or a more serious logic board failure?

I have an Ipad 5th gen that charges normally when turned off. The moment it boots the Amps drop to 0. There's no debris and nothing is stuck in the charging port.

iPad Air: Why does YouTube randomly slip between screens.

I watch YouTube each day. The stories routinely and randomly flip between screens without notice; it is quite difficult getting back to where I was, as the cursor starts at the beginning of the story each time. I also notice that the screen moves independently of my Pencil Pro in other programs. It is especially annoying when I am playing games; I have to chase the item I am aiming for.

iPad 10: iPad 10 not charging after customer inserted metal object into port.

I’m repairing an iPad 10, that’s not charging and restarting.

The customer inserted a metal pick to clean the charge port and he describes it going bang and some smoke.

I’ve identified 2 issues but don’t know the part names/lines/voltages etc.

I’ve found an ic that’s cracked - top left off the LCD connector - its numbers are:

37A80R8 - 2E4B - F2A2Z - can some one tell me what this ic is for?

The only short to ground I’ve found is in the first pic. Just to the top right of the PMIC - 8 caps and 2 Coils short to ground.

iPad Pro 12.9": My iPad is stuck in recovery mode

I got it secondhand, it isn’t damaged at all but apparently it was left uncharged for a little while and now it has the recovery mode screen. I’ve tried initiating recovery and I can only get past this screen like 1 in 5 tries, but even when I get past it and it says it’s in the process of recovering it, the progress bar fills less than a tenth of the way and won’t go further even if left for hours.

is it totally bricked? Would it even be worth the trouble of taking it to a repair shop or would that be just as expensive as getting another refurbished one?

EDIT: I’ve tried flashing it with 3utools, and I’ve tried directly downloading the IOS to recover it in Itunes, but both end up getting stuck eventually. Recovery gets stuck at 90% and flashing gets to about 20, when it starts unmounting the filesystem, but it’ll stay this way for hours. It also doesn’t seem to want to stay in DFU mode long enough to recover anything, it boots out of it and then tries to recover normally which it can’t
