iPhone 17: iPhone 17 dead after battery depleted

Hi,

So a family member gave me their iPhone 17 to look at. It is currently stone dead. No signs of life at all. They said the battery was at 1% and then the screen went black (assume battery died). After that they said they could not turn the phone back on. They left it charging and still could not turn it on.

I took a look myself and see it is completely dead. There's nothing on screen. There's no battery icon or anything to say it's low on battery. The screen just remains black.

I tried the force restart method (says to quickly press volume up, then down and then hold the power button until Apple logo appears) which did nothing. I've tried multiple cables, computers and wall outlets. Still same.

I have a USB amp meter and I can see when I connect cable, it cycles between different watts. It regularly jumps from 0 to about 2.1W. I see frequent 2.1W readings but it keeps going back to 0 and then up again (sometimes at a lower wattage). It's like it's trying to charge, but can't for some reason.

The phone is still in warranty period, so it can be returned. However, I'd like to check if there's maybe anything that can be done to bring it back to life as it does seem weird that it just died after the battery went out.

Anyone know what could be wrong? If it's a hardware issue, then I'll just send it back for a replacement. But I am hoping there's a way to bring it back to life as this will be faster than waiting for a replacement. It's not looking promising though.

iPhone 14: Does iPhone 14 work without the charging coil assembly connected?

I ask this because, after changing the back glass cover of this phone, upon reconnecting the charging coil connector and powering up the repaired phone, it crashes every 4-5 minutes without restart. I have to power it up manually, but the phone shuts down automatically. Before opening it, it worked flawlessly.

So the point here is what I screwed up?

This is what iDevice Panic Analyser says.

And it's likely right, but the phone shuts down also with the charging coil assembly disconnected, so I'm left wondering if the phone needs it to run -> I buy another functioning one

or

The phone has damage in the mainboard and a brand new charging coil does not matter at this point.

I fear the latter is the case, based on experience. Now I can panic like the phone does.

iPhone 12 Pro: iPhone 12 Pro 4013 Boot Loop - ear speaker replacement did not work

I have an iPhone 12 Pro which stopped working several years ago due to a boot loop where the Apple logo would just continue to re-appear over and over again and never boot to iOS. I opened it back then and by disconnecting the ear speaker/front assembly flex cable, I was able to boot just fine. I did some research and found that perhaps this can be fixed by replacing the ear speaker. I didn't feel like doing it at the time so put it in a drawer for a couple years. Last week I decided to try and fix it. I purchased a replacement ear speaker from iFixit (iPhone 12/12 Pro Earpiece Speaker). Tonight, I de-soldered the old speaker and soldered the new one on. Easy. However, this didn't fix anything. I'm still getting 4013 when I try to restore the phone in iTunes. Also tried DFU mode and I don't get 4013 but iTunes just hangs "Waiting for iPhone...". I also tried the new "Apple Devices" app with the same results.

So I just wasted $22 + shipping on a fix that did not work. Any ideas what else this could be? Kind of bummed out as this is a 512GB and has a brand new Apple battery with 100% max capacity.

I am considering purchasing a new Apple OEM display from Apple's Self Service Repair Store so that I can get this fully restored and working with Face ID but struggling with whether it's worth $250 to do so and also do not know if it's a sure fix.

iPhone 8: iPhone 8 motherboard apparently ‘fried’ - data retrieval possible?

iPhone 8 had been having issues holding charge and was getting warm when using or charging. Then it just died and I couldn’t turn it on and it didn’t show up when connected to my computer.

I had assumed data was being backed up to the cloud as I was paying for storage. Turns out I was just paying for storage from my previous phone and nothing from the IPhone 8. That’s what I figure anyway as nothing from the IPhone 8 had backed up to the cloud at all.

I took it to an Apple registered technician (small town in Australia with no Apple stores). They told me it was the logic board and needed to send it to Sydney to be fixed.

I then took it to another phone repair shop who also said they needed to send it to Sydney (third party technician) to see if it can be fixed down there. As they only charge money if they actually fix the problem, I went with them. Finally got the phone back 5 weeks later to be told it’s ‘unfixable’ and the motherboard is ‘fried’. Apparently they tried ‘every part’ but couldn’t get it to turn on. I just want my photos and notes from the phone. Is it worth seeing if there is anyone else who can retrieve the data for me or is it likely it’s all gone? I mean are all technicians the same and if one can’t get the data, no one can? Or are there some that are extra specialist who know extra little ‘tricks’ for iPhones?

Thank you.

iPhone 6: Broken LCD or Hardware issue? (Video)

I dropped my phone and NOT ONLY vertical ‘ghost’ lines appeared : I was going to order a new screen + digitizer, however I noticed something else. After a minute of use or so, the screen starts to get eaten away by gray-ish horizontal lines (imgur video). This happens more frequently everytime ( 1.30 minute, then 1 minute, then every 30 seconds.)
iPhone 5s: Fluttering lcd, sometimes an issue

So, recently, I've been noticing this issue, and it's very recent for me. Sometimes when I install a display assembly, I get fluttering lines, on the lcd. This isn't the same as when you use cheap parts, and you get those white lines. It's almost a strobing/blinking light. All the colors of the lcd picture are there. But they're doing the strobe effect. It's so weird, and I'm getting really good parts. So, I'm wondering if it's something I'm doing? Could it be my magnetic mat? Which Mav ruled out, in a different thread. Anything? Anybody? Oh, I've been getting this with iPhone 5S and iPhone 6
