iPhone 3GS: After replacing broken screen I have the white screen of death.

I bought 3 different pieces from "WirelessFinest" on Amazon (I don't care how low their prices are, DO NOT buy from them!!!).

First I bought only the screen and I successfully removed the broken glass and replaced it but they sent me the part for a 3G instead.

So now that I attached it to my frame I have to buy the whole frame plus screen. When I received it I installed it but the earpiece sounded like it was blown. I tried many times to put the ribbon cables in again and I also removed the cable from the earpiece from my original frame all to no avail.

I ordered a new frame plus screen again and when I first installed it the screen worked fine but again the speaker sound was too low, I could barely hear anything. So I tried reinstalling the ribbons a few times and checking it and I got the white screen of death then it went black but the display still worked.

I found out how to reformat it so I did that and now the white screen of death is back and no amount of hard resetting it is working. It turns off and it won't come back on until I hold down the power button. Please HELP!!!

iPhone 3GS: iPhone died at 30% battery and wont start again?

For a while I have been using "Mobile Power Station" (an external battery charger) with my iPhone 3GS 32GB.

A couple of days ago I used the phone, connected to the mobile power station, just surfing the web. Then, suddenly, the LEDs on the mobile powerstation started flashing. The iPhone LCD flashed one time and then the phone went dead.

And now, it's still dead. I mean really dead, dead, dead. It won't power on, no charge in neither wall or computer.

I tried soft reset (HOME+Power) and connecting to Itunes in DFU-mode, nothing works! :(

It seems to be a hardware error, but what?

Burned circuits?

When I check the liquid submersion indicator in the dock connector it looks red, just like it suffered a water damage. But I know that my phone never suffered a water damage so I suppose the indicator went red just by humidity.

So my question is, what happend to my phone? what do I need to do to repair it?

Thank you!

iPhone 3GS: How to change connector for cable three?

Hi guys,

I recently bought a used 3gs with a damaged screen, however i found that the previous seller had also damaged connector for cable 3. I have had a look and a new connector will probably need to be soldered on. But I can seem to pin point where the solder was initially applied to the part. is it on the front side of the logic board or the reverse side? Thanks in advance

iPhone 3GS: Can someone please distinguish these parts for me?

What is the difference between these parts:

Front Panel

Display

Display Assembly

I asked a previous questions about which part(s) I need to fix a visibly cracked screen and dead pixels, and was told the Display Assembly. ($199, same as new phone if I wait for my upgrade eligibility)

As the crack in my screen is a fine hairline, I've decided I can live with the crack if there's a way to replace the now faulty display (dead pixels).

Why I'm confused is that the info about the display repair procedure says "Cracked or faulty display?". This sounds like it's referring to the glass. I think I just want whatever it's called, that creates the image on the screen.

To me, a display creates and presents an image, it's not the glass over the image (unless of course it's actually one piece of hardware) - thus my confusion.

Sorry for the long rambling.

iPhone 3GS: Are you able to repair fried iPhones

Using a car charger, my 32 GB iPhone did not charge, but actually started to go down in battery life. Then I started to smell a burning electronic smell and when I looked down, the apple logo came up and the screen flickered and went black. I tried a regular iPod charger (plugged into the wall), plugged into my laptop - nothing. The Mac store said it was fried and no repair could remedy my situation.
iPhone 3GS: Can a bad SIM drain battery in 90 minutes?

So I replaced my battery because bu 3GS was going dead from a full charge in about 90 minutes with an always warm case. The new battery didn't help... But since I need a phone I bit the bullet and got a new phone.

I wiped the old phone, and put in a Hong Kong sim card (my normal one is from Macau), placed all my apps back on it, and charged it up.

I have left it unplugged for 30 hours and the battery is sitting at 91%. The new phone (with the old Macau SIM card) is a iPhone 4, and it's going through batteries quickly (about 6 hours - 8 hours, including juice pack)

Is it possible for a SIM card with wear and tear to somehow drain a battery stupid quickly? OR is it possible that there is some strange carrier setting that changed with a new carrier profile that is killing my battery? Any thoughts on how to diagnose?

iPhone 3GS: iPhone completely dead, shows no signs of life

My friend gave me an iPhone 3GS, he said he managed to get it to boot (not sure if he actually did!) however I’ve found that when plugged in (even overnight) it’s showing no signs of life, the screen is black and there are no sounds or vibrations whatsoever.

I’ve taken the device apart and measured the battery voltage, this was 0.16v so completely dead. I though this could have been the issue so to resolve this I remove the battery and charged it up using a bench power supply, it’s now reading 3.76v. I’ve reinstalled it into the phone but still nothing. (Maybe this voltage is still too low as even with the battery installed testing the battery probe points suggests it’s not charging)

I’ve checked what I believe to be the fuse for the battery and this has continuity, and I’ve checked to see if I have 5v on the dock connector motherboard test pads which I do.

I also checked to see if the dock connector voltage was present on the battery terminals, it doesn’t seem to be, could this be because the iPhone does not detect a battery?

I have also found that even powering the iPhone with no battery (through the dock connector) using an iPad 10W charger the iPhone shows no signs of life.

I have ordered a new battery, dock connector and digitiser. The digitiser is cracked but I’ve tried the phone without it to check it isn’t shorted. What are the chances of replacing these components fixing my issue?

does the iPhone need to detect a voltage above 3.7v before it will start?

Thank you,
