iPhone 5s: iPhone stuck on red battery logo screen

My iphone died completely and turned off. So it's been 3 hours charging and it's not turning on, it's totally just stuck on the red battery logo screen. I was thinking about restarting it or put it in dfu mode, but there are two problems: 1) my home button isn't working, 2) it's turned off so it's not detectable to the pc

Anyone got any idea how to fix that?

iPhone 5s: Can I pass activation lock?

I recently found this iPhone in the trash. The iPhone did not have a passcode, but it did indeed have an Apple Account linked to it. In order to protect the original owner's information, I erased the entire thing. Now I wish I hadn't done that because of Activation Lock.

I'm thinking that if I put the original Operating System back on (iOS 7 I believe), then I wouldn't have to deal with activation lock.

Guess what though, iTunes will not let you put the original OS back on. So, I downloaded the firmware, but I can't restore it because I don't have a program to do it.

I have found several 3rd party programs out there that claim they can do it, but I do not trust them, plus they won't work until I pay over 60 dollars in advance.

So, where do I go from here?

iPhone 5s: iPhone 5S İOS 7.1.1 —BBNotReady,İMEİ None,Blue Screen—PMU issue?

Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone 5S running iOS 7.1.1 which is quite rare these days and has sentimental value to me, so I want to avoid upgrading iOS at all costs.

The phone is stuck on the activation screen and shows "Searching…" in the top left corner permanently. I connected it to 3uTools and noticed the following:

IMEI 1 & 2: None

Baseband Version: Empty

Baseband SN: Empty

Baseband Status: BBNotReady

Cellular Address: Shows a valid MAC address (84:B1:xx:xx:xx)

Coprocessor: None

The phone also randomly displays a blue screen (kernel panic) approximately 1–3 minutes after booting and then reboots.

I exported the real-time logs via 3uTools and found the following repeating errors throughout the entire log:

AppleD2045PMU::_readADCGated(x) ADC read bad state: 1
AppleD2045PMU::_readADCGated(x) failed with status=e00002d6
CLTM: Could not get value for PMU tdev1/tdev2/tdev3/tdev4/tbat/tcal/tjunc
CommCenter: com.apple.AppleBasebandManager.RadioNotReady
CommCenter: CSI state dump requested: modem boot up failure
BBUpdater error 3 — Failed creating a communication transport to baseband

Every single ADC channel (2, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) is failing with kIOReturnNotReady consistently throughout the entire log without a single successful read.

The phone has had a screen replacement done previously. Long screw damage was considered but ruled out because the phone actually boots, reaches the hello screen, and works for a few minutes before kernel panicking — classic long screw damage usually results in immediate boot loops or no power at all.

My theory is that the D2045PMU chip has a partial internal failure — specifically the ADC block is dead while the core power delivery functions still work (hence the phone boots). This would explain both the kernel panic (iOS can't read sensor values) and BBNotReady (baseband can't get proper power/communication).

My questions:

Does this log pattern confirm a D2045PMU hardware failure?

Would a reflow be worth attempting before replacing the PMU?

After PMU replacement, will iOS 7.1.1 recognize the new chip automatically or is any additional firmware/software work needed?

Any chance this could still be a software issue given that the cellular MAC address is visible?

Thanks in advance.

iPhone 5s: Fluttering lcd, sometimes an issue

So, recently, I've been noticing this issue, and it's very recent for me. Sometimes when I install a display assembly, I get fluttering lines, on the lcd. This isn't the same as when you use cheap parts, and you get those white lines. It's almost a strobing/blinking light. All the colors of the lcd picture are there. But they're doing the strobe effect. It's so weird, and I'm getting really good parts. So, I'm wondering if it's something I'm doing? Could it be my magnetic mat? Which Mav ruled out, in a different thread. Anything? Anybody? Oh, I've been getting this with iPhone 5S and iPhone 6

iPhone 5s: Charging logo but not charging?

This started last week. I noticed my iphone 5s battery percentage wasn't increasing but the lightening charging indicator is coming on!

So after a look around the internet I couldn't find anything the same.

I tried changing the charger to another working one in our house. still the same

I tried doing a reset (holding down the power and home button until the apple logo comes on then releasing)....still nothing.

I tried clearing the phone and fully resetting every, nothing still.

I do keep my phone updated, however this happened long after.

So sounds like the battery right?....

I changed the battery and it charges like a trooper, woohoo!

First thing I notice is that it seems to stay at 100% for too long.

After 2 days it starts to drop to 95% and won't charge again.

So I change the battery again, and it charges again...

Same thing as above.

after fitting the battery the 2nd time around, I charged it for 8 hours as they tell you to when buying a new phone?

but still no joy.

I'm wondering if theirs something you're supposed to do when fitting a new battery?

Or... do you think the board is gone?

Or..just another faulty battery?

Seems funny that they all do the same.

Before all this, my original battery was just fine.

Update (08/02/2016)

Hi, Nothing went wrong with the change over at all. I'm not a repair guy but I'm quite handy with this sort of thing.

I just find it funny how it charges for 2 days then stops.

Unplugging the battery for a few minutes doesn't get it charging again either. the only way to get it to charge is to fit a new battery. almost like it's popping a fuse inside the battery? might be over charging?

If it's not the battery, then the original battery must not have been at fault in the first place.

But still can't understand why it charges when changing the battery.

iPhone 5s: iPhone 5s power button stuck down?

My iPhone 5s won't start up. Screen is blank and battery (by now) is discharged. Pressing the power button doesn't make anything happen.

The power button seems stuck down. No click or movement felt when pressing it.

Connecting the lightning power cord gives an immediate Apple logo for ~20 seconds, sometimes followed by a brief full-screen red flash, then the screen goes dark for a few seconds before the Apple logo reappears. This cycle continues indefinitely.

Thoughts? Many thanks.

iPhone 5s: Why won't my phone screen light up even if the phone is on?

Yesterday while I was using my phone the screen went completely black. At first I thought the battery just ran out, so I charged it, but it still wouldn’t turn on. Since then, I’ve figured out that the phone itself is still running perfectly fine, but the screen itself just won’t work. Sometimes when I rapidly press the home button, the phone screen will turn on, but it’s only temporary, and it doesn’t work every time. I have no idea what could be causing this problem or how I could fix it. I have tried everything and nothing has helped.

iPhone 5s: iPhone sim card no service after slight water damage

Yesterday, my iPhone was slightly submerged on a big puddle on the kitchen counter that I didn't notice. Some water seems to have gone through the speaker ports and SIM card tray. I turned it off for a few minutes before turning it back on again. Everything worked normally except my SIM card and speakers. the speakers were slightly muffled and after I played music for a minute did the speakers return to normal. However, there was a notice that said SIM card failure. I tried pulling out the SIM card and shake around the phone to remove liquid. Then I put the SIM card back in again. It seemed to have recognized the card and things went to normal. A few minutes later, it said no SIM card installed so pulled it out, drained tiny drops of water and put it back in. Everything went smooth for the rest of the night. Today, the SIM card started acting erratically. It would show SIM card not installed or no service. Every time I pull out the SIM card and put it in again, things work. But after a few minutes it goes back to no service. I opened up the device and saw no sign of water or corrosion or any type of damage in the SIM card tray or the phone. Can someone help me here?

I connected the device to iTunes, and tried to both update to 8.1.2 (no luck, kicks device back to "Update or Restore?" option) and restore (again, no dice, simply returns to update or restore). I am provided no error code by iTunes, it extracts the software, enters restore mode for several minutes and then exits back to "The software on 'iPhone' needs to be restored to factory settings or updated."

iPhone 5s: Why is the home button not working after reassembly?

I recently changed the battery on my iPhone 5s and the battery works well, however there is now another issue. I installed the battery without the adhesive to check if it charges and consumers power normally, and when I was satisfied with how it operated I removed the battery and installed the adhesive along with the battery. After that, the home button stopped working. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the home button flex cable several times as well as disconnecting and reconnecting the battery connector and then connecting the home button flex cable but that didn't work either. I'm wondering if I caused a slight tear or damage to the home button flex cable that's causing this issue. Here are some pictures to show what it currently looks like:

iPhone 5s: Why won't the earpiece for my iPhone 5s work?

I recently replaced the battery, touchscreen and home button for my iPhone 5s and everything seems to working except for the earpiece. The speaker and microphone work, the camera works and texting works, but not the earpiece. I've tried turning off phone noise cancellation and Bluetooth, and I've already restarted and factory reset the phone, but none of these things have worked. I opened up the phone and took some pictures of the resistors and capacitors around the touchscreen connectors, but nothing seems damaged to me. Here are the pictures:

I don't mind replacing the earpiece if I have to but I want to be certain that will fix the issue before I buy one. Anyone know what the problem may be and how to solve it?
