iPhone 6 Plus: Sim not supported, what carrier is it from?

I live in Argentina, on a trip to the US a friend bought a used 6 plus (looking at it, it seems refurbished, they had no idea. Even the IMEI on the back doesn't match the one on the board) and now they can't activate it. They told me it was from AT&T but after contacting them and doing the unlock request they said "... the IMEI number provided doesn't match a device that's currently on the AT&T network."

So clearly not AT&T originally.

3uTools says sales region is USA, but I can't figure out what carrier it is from.

Where do I go from here?

Any help is appreciated!!

Best regards, Rodrigo

iPhone 6 Plus: After battery replacement phone won't power up- I may have goofed?!?

Hi- I purchased an iPhone 6 Plus battery from ifixit, with tools and did the replacement today. I followed the instructions on YouTube from ifixit. After putting the new battery in I started up the phone before closing the thing up to see that everything was working- and it looked like it did! Apple logo- then lock screen. Looks good! Then I go to turn it off - oh no - the touch screen doesn't work! The touch screen connector wasn't connected!!! Because of that, I had no way to turn off the phone. So I unplugged the battery connector (probably a bad idea?) to power down, then I opened back up the connector cover to connect the touch screen clasp (which was not connected at all)- put that all back together, and then reconnected the battery clasp and cover, and this is when the phone would not power up.

Some additional details:

- phone worked fine before this

- the new battery registered a 52% battery charge when the phone was briefly on

- I connected the battery being replaced to check - it had 80% charge right before being replaced- still didn't work.

- I tried iTunes thing (connecting to computer via an apple usb cable) still nothing.

- the screen and battery connectors all look good- there doesn't seem to be any damage.

My questions:

- Did unplugging the battery connector while it was on 'fry' my phone?

- Did the touch screen connector being loose/unconnected cause my phone to be fried?

- was it a combination of the previous 2?

I just need to know if this phone is a lost cause.

Any information here is greatly appreciated.

iPhone 6 Plus: Why won't my iPhone turn on?

Previously I asked a question concerning replacing the screen and LCD on my iPhone. I had leaned into something with no actual impact, just pressure from me leaning, and when I looked at my phone the screen was black. I came home and replaced the screen with the old screen that was previously broken (the LCD still worked when I bought the new screen, but my current screen was cracked real bad which is why i bought a new one) but that screen would only light up long enough to show a few white lines on a black screen. So it was suggested to me that I get a new screen before deciding how much damage was done to the phone. I now have a working screen, but my phone won’t turn on! I toggled the vibrating button to see if it was on and that maybe I yet again put on a faulty LCD, but alas, no vibration. I also tried to hold the power button for about 15 seconds. It wasn’t plugged in for several days, but now it’s been charging for 3 hours. At the time that I leaned into something and the screen cracked, the phone was still on. It would also still vibrate when I toggled the ringer. I had to finally use muscle memory and turn the phone off because the back light was staying on but the screen was black. Since the phone was staying on after my accident I thought having a new screen would fix all my problems.. Is there anything else I could try or should I just leave it to the professionals?

If I open voice memos and hit record I do hear audio correctly but I’m guessing that’s because I’m using the third microphone at the bottom of the phone.

iPhone 6 Plus: Where is the GSM Hardware on iPhone 6 plus?

I have to replace a Verizon logic board with this logic board that is locked to AT&T carrier.

My question is where is the CDMA or GSM Hardware on iPhone 6 plus?

I’m asking this because I use a Verizon Sim card. I know Verizon use GSM. If the GSM “Hardware is on the motherboard” then I don’t have a GSM reception when I unlock my AT&T Iphone.

If the “CDMA“ or “GSM” hardware is on the Logic Board, then I should not unlock this AT&T phone. However, if the network is somewhere not on the Logic board, then I still have good GSM connection because I didn’t touch the GSM part.

iPhone 6 Plus: iPhone boots up to logo but then stays at a black screen. Suggestions?

I have an iPhone 6+ and until recently I had purchased a new screen for it because mine was shattered. It has been working for quite some time up until I replaced the screen, not the only time I have had to replace it. I replaced it in 2016 and then had to replace it again recently. It has ghost touch glitches every once in a while but its had that ever since I had the phone. Anyway, the phone started booting up to the apple screen and then looping. I’ve connected it to iTunes and tried to diagnose the problem by restoring and updating it but to no avail errors were popping up and the phone would start looping during the restore process causing it to error and fail. I noticed that the phone does hold charge because after taking it off the charger it continues it’s loop cycle, it does not show the dead battery icon which is strange to me. After charging it, it started up and shown the apple logo then black screen, still powered on though then minutes later it will shut off. Is it a hardware issue, loose connection, malfunction?

Ps. It has not been exposed to liquid.

iPhone 6 Plus: DEAD, no respons, No power to the battery, possible the U2 ic?

I bought a dead phone, and by dead i mean REALLY dead, no respons at all! Tried all you can do by the cheep tricks, but nothing happens.

So I began to tear the phone apart, the first thing i notis is a screen replecment been done. I allso get no voltege from the battery, allso no voltage from the logic board when charger inpluged. Or a reading of 0.1 V for being exact. Theres no short circuit when put the probes on + and - I got around 700 Oms that drops down with time.

When I switch the logic board around and opened the sticker I allso notis some corrosion on one capacitor and two burn marks on the sticker indicated that two other capacitors gone HOT. So I cleaned the board with Iso. and broched it and finely heated it up with heatgun. That did not fix the problem.

One thing im encountered whas that when charger pluged in, the PMIC got REALLY hot! Could the PMIC might been gone bad? Or is it like many others with similar problems the U2 ic? What do you think?

Small capacitors hot mark. And little green corrosion. Find one small water trace when i first opened this sticker.

iPhone 6 Plus: iPhone 6+ won't turn on

I have an iPhone 6 plus that was working fine. I gave it to my cousin after I replace the screen and days later the new screen stopped responding. The only way it would respond to touch is if she would press on the screen very hard. Her friend ended up pressing on the screen very hard to the point it cracked. Then phone would turn on again after that but the touch was unresponsive. Later on, she slammed it on her bed and it turned off completely. It hasn't turned on since.

iTunes does not recognize it at all. I've replace the battery, the charging port and the screen and still no response. The motherboard however does get warm when plugged into the computer. What can be done? Any suggestions? Please and thank you!

iPhone 6 Plus: Possible logic board failure on iPhone 6 Plus

Randomly this evening my iPhone 6 Plus decided to end its existence in some sense. It was working perfectly fine prior to me going outside for a smoke. I came back inside and the screen had gone black and the back light was turning on and off repeatedly. I initiated a hard reset because the power button was not responsive and after that there was nothing. I plugged it into my PC to see if anything could be done in iTunes but it required me to enter the password from the phone that was dead. I tried forcing it into recovery mode but that needed a password as well. The phone obviously turns on and off when using the hard reset but nothing works. The vibrate switch is unresponsive as well. Touch ID to unlock the phone doesn't work because the PIN needs to be entered when the phone is turned back on. Wondering what you guys think these symptoms add up to. Feedback will be much appreciated. Also the phone was in perfect condition previous the this, and I have had it since the first day it was released. EDIT: Right now just trying to let the battery drain to see if I can revive it with a fresh charge (wishful thinking I know) I am now noticing there is a pretty warm spot on the phone just under the camera

iPhone 6 Plus: Why is my front camera not working after I replaced battery?

I watched some tips on the youtube which showed how to replace the battery briefly without removing the LCD. I did exactly the process with holding the LCD 90 degree throughout the time replacing. One thing I noticed that when I placed the battery inside and run the camera my phone keep restarting few times. I wonder where the problem was? My front camera or when I replaced the battery there was some shorting happened and it affected to the IC on the main board which control the front and rear camera?

iPhone 6 Plus: keep rebooting and stay at 1%

I just replace my battery because i thought the reason why my iphone wasn’t charging, stuck for 1% and continually died after 3 mins. is the battery.

But after i replaced it. It’s still restarting every 2-3 mins and worst it doesn’t open when it is not plug in its charger. It continually showing the apple logo for almost an hour before it open again and stuck at 1%, died every 3 minutes. And i continually experience the same thing again and again.

I already reset it but eventually it still happen again, like a cycle.
