iPhone 7: iPhone 7 No front camera plastic holder/bracket/clip in replacement

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of replacing the screen on my Iphone 7. Starting to reassemble the front camera and noticed that the replacement screen doesn't have the two plastic holders/brackets for the front camera and proximity sensor (see link) like my old screen does. Is this going to be a problem? Is it possible to transfer them over from the old screen (they seem to be stuck on there pretty tightly...)? If I have to purchase these how do I attach them, would an adhesive of some kind be necessary?

Thanks in advance

iPhone 7: So, any update on replacing displays?

Last I checked, about a week ago. Everyone here is saying there are errors with iPhone 7/7+. After a third party display replacement. Mostly with the home button. Which I noticed quite a few articles saying the home button messes up anyways. Also I noticed cpr saying their more than happy to do these repairs. I've been turning away and cautioning customers. Has anything changed?

iPhone 7: Unable to Activate "An update is required to activate your iPhone"

I just got this iPhone 7 to repair. It was boot looping, so I put in a different battery. It was still boot looping, so I put it in recovery mode and plugged it into my computer and updated it. I eventually got to the iPhone Unavailable screen, so I put it back in recovery mode and restored it. It went to the usual "hello" screen and I got to the part where the it tries to activate, and all it says is "Unable to Activate an update is required to activate your iPhone. Learn more at apple.com/support"

I already updated it, so this error isn't making sense to me... Could this be an issue with the carrier or a hardware issue? I had another iPhone 7 previously that had a damaged chip that made it so that you couldn't connect to cellular or activate the device. Could that be the issue here? Or is it simply iCloud locked?

Thank you for the help!

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 dead after removing Baseband CPU

Hi guys, I have a dead iPhone 7 here. It was repaired by other shop before coming to me. It was a poor repair by someone. They tried to remove the audio chip but failed. I can see they used lot of heat trying to remove the audio chip and shorted it underneath. Knowing the cause of the short, I swiftly removed the audio chip, now the short was gone, the phone was able to turn on without any issue, however, I noticed the baseband was gone, there is no firmware in settings . I guess the baseband was somehow disturbed in the previous failed repair. There is no option left but to remove and reball the baseband CPU. I successfully removed the baseband CPU and without pulling any pads. However, the phone won’t turn on. :(

My question is, will an iPhone 7 turn on without a baseband CPU? I know iPhone 6 series can turn on without a baseband, but I am not sure on iPhone 7.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 doesn't turn on after replacing battery, screen and dockconn.

I have an old iPhone 7 that has been laying around for quite a while. Since there's still some data on the phone that i'd like to retrieve i tried fixing the phone a couple of times. In the process of tinkering around for fun i broke the screen and the battery cables. So i decided to buy a new battery, a new screen and a new dock connector. I replaced those parts a couple of days ago.

Now, however, the phone doesn't turn on at all. When i press the power button nothing happens; when i connect the phone to the charger, nothing happens either. I thought i had replaced all the broken parts, but perhaps the logic board itself is broken? If so, how could i check this?

Thanks in advance!

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 keeps restarting and does not show battery health

I was given iPhone 7 32GB for free and it had screen smashed. So I changed the screen and while I opened it, I changed battery too. When I started using the phone, it always restarted when trying to log in to my Apple ID or updating the phone. Battery did recharge to 100% ok. Yet, phone does not show battery health and keeps searching it.

So I thought maybe the battery is faulty. I changed again a new battery and phone keeps restarting if I try to log in to my Apple ID or update it. Battery does not show health and this time it won’t charge more that 27%.

All I can do is perhaps change a charging port. I don’t know the history of the phone and I don’t know how to check or fix problems on board.

Any advises or should I just toss this to trash bin?

iPhone 7: wifi greyed out, but works after some time after booting

A customer sent us a phone with audio IC problems. I noticed wifi is greyed out as well, so I checked info in the settings menu. It lagged and didn’t enter the info page, which is an indication there are problems with the wifi chip. Read this on a forum.

After a few minutes, wifi will work but will be bugged. The phone says the wifi is off while it’s on.

When I restart the iphone wifi is greyed out again. Does anyone have experience with this? The second phone in 2 weeks that have this problem. First time the customer came back and saying her wifi was broken again. I reset the network settings and it worked the first time so I didn’t read too much into it and didn’t charge her money.

Sounds like a wifi chip problem, but I wanna make sure. Repairing the audio IC isn’t an issue but I don’t wanna make things worse after heating up the board when repairing audio IC.

EDIT: Just repaired the audio IC and left it like that. The customer is aware wifi can fail any moment but didn’t want to pay for the repair. Can’t do anything else than that.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 black screen home button works

Hi all

I have dropped my phone from about 40cm in height from the table onto the carpet. The screen when picking up slowly faded to black and it never lit back up. It is worth noting the screen has not a single scratch nor crack, same for the phone. It landed quite soft and the home button does still work when pressing.

Tried restarting, DFU, all software options but without any resolution. Then opened it with the iFixit tools & guide as I read in a lot of places it could be just a simple dislodged screen cable.

I have not noticed anything particularly loose inside but I followed the guide anyway and disconnected & re-connected the two screen cables several times but no resolution. The Taptip engine/home button still works masterfully.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to proceed now? I have already another iPhone so it is not really that I want to use it, I just desperately am trying to get to my data as I also was unable to transfer the backup I made some time ago onto my new iPhone. I really just care about the data, which is why buying a screen replacement would be the last step to undertake knowing I have another phone already.

Many tthanks in advance!
