iPhone 7: **UPDATE Stuck in boot loop, was able to get it out, now back in loop?

**UPDATE 3/22/2018**

I left the phone off all night, then in the morning I turned it on by plugging it into a wall outlet, phone booted up and wact normal like I was setting it up for the first time. Set it up as a new phone, works great EXCEPT, anything involing the microphone wont work/freezes. Pressing record on voice memos or video recordings, the recording button changes from a red circle to a red square but the timer doesnt count and it doesnt respond immediately to stoping the recording. Thoughts? Also, I cant hear or be heard on phone calls, sounds like hardware?

3/21/2018 Apologize in advanced for the long post!

Read through a lot of the great knowledge on here, going to give it a shot, I just wanted to ask in case anyone could help expedite my process.

I bought a used iphone 7 for $100.00 that was stuck in a boot loop (White Screen, black Apple Logo). I have an iphone 5s that I've had for 3 years and after doing research online, seeing that iphone 7s stuck in boot loops was fairly common, I figured I'd take the risk of trying to get it out.

Brought the phone home, put in in DFU mode and got the software updated to current ios. Tried downgrading to 10, found out that doesnt work. It would show up in itunes with the older owners name, battery percentage, available space, all the basic info. I let the phone charge on my Lenovo laptop via genuine lightning cable all night long.

The nextmorning I read some users had issues with the phone getting to about 75 percent completed status on the updating software bar and the phone would just reset. The solved this by opening up the sim card door and using a hairdryer directed towards it to get the phone hot and this would work. My phone would appear to get 98 percent of the way done, the itune message would pop up and say, "The update was complete, your device will restart in 10 seconds.."So I gave it a shot. Didn't work. Then I tried it again later and after my phone cooled down a bit it worked! Phone started up like it was a new iphone, ran me through everything, touch i.d., new pass code, insert sim card. I attempte to restore it with my iphone 5s back up. Back up seemed to go just fine, it restarted the device with the white background/black logo but then loaded my passcode prompt. Typed in my new passcode, phone froze for a bit and rebooted. Again prompted me to enter my passcode, after it accepted my passcode, it showed a white screen that said I needed to update, updated it and it back in the boot loop. Re-heating it hasnt worked.

I apologize for the wordy write-up! I realize that it, being a used phone, is probably water damaged, but my hopes where that the wordy write-up may help more expereienced users crack this one.

Questions,

- My 5s is running 10. 3.3 when I ran the 'restore' option on the 7, that doesnt also load that ios from the 5s does it? Could that have made things worse?

- If it is water damage, what components might be damaged? Are they worth replacing, by myself (decently skilled DIYer) or a pro? I was looking at NAND's and upgrading since its only a 32 gb.

Should I just part it out and try and break even? Is that even an option?

Thanks so much!

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 problem with aftermarket screen

I've got a friend with an Iphone 7, he broke his original screen so i replaced it for a new one, Every screw organized on the place it belongs to. After a good and very fast repair the new screen works just perfectly fine.

But now it fell out and restarted, after the restart the touchscreen was unfunctional.

we didn't knew what to do next, so my first reaction was just giving it an hard reset.

It worked again! but now is my question, we went to the apple store and they said the device when it recognizes it's not an original screen it could take out the screen, so that it's unfunctional again, but i think that's searched too far, because there are so many places now where you can buy replacement screens, and when this is true there should be no aftermarket parts available right?

Do i have to worry now for the screen to die or is it just not that big of a deal?

the whole repair did go perfectly fine, no havily bended parts/cables/connectors, no screws mixed, no damage to any parts. And followed the instructions of the Ifixit quide.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 Bluetooth not working

Ive been given an iPhone 7 to replace my old SE. Everything works as it should except for the bluetooth. When you go into settings, instead of the Bluetooth On/Off switch there’s just a spinning disc.

I’ve been through all the troubleshooters to the point of restoring it back to factory defaults with the latest IOS, but it still doesn’t work.

However I have noticed that when I put the serial number into Apples website, it should be a different color than it is (Apple say it is rose gold, but it’s actually silver) so I guess at some point it has been re-cased.

Everything else on the phone works fine including the 4G and wireless. Can anyone suggest what might be the issue with it?

Thanks.

iPhone 7: Home Button not working after screen replacement.

Hi all,

first post here!

I’m having some trouble with a screen replacement I did.

I bought a used genuine iPhone 7 screen from eBay, replaced the screen and my home button won’t respond whatsoever, it doesn’t bring up the assistive touch until I activated it through settings, and TouchID fails.

So, I did the obvious and put my old screen back on, and I could click the home button and it worked fine. ( I would keep the screen if it wasn’t glitching and the LCD wasn’t smashed *sigh*)

I contacted the seller, he said to restore the phone, but it didn’t work either.

Any advice?

iPhone 7: Can I replace my iPhone 7 Home Button on my own or only by Apple?

I recently replaced the screen on my iPhone 7, and I also have to replace the charging port. But after replacing the screen I noticed that the home button stopped working (Touch ID doesn’t work either).

I’ve read online that this could either be a fault of the screen itself (because it connects to the home button) or the home button could be busted.

But I also read that you can’t replace the home button on your own and you need a genuine Apple home button to gain full functionality back, aka Apple can only replace your home button for you. Is this still true? If this still applies, then why does iFixit sell home buttons for the iPhone 7 in their store?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
