iPhone XR: microphone may be broken, what to do

Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone XR, on which I had the bad idea of trying to use an air compressor to clean it. It seems that I have broken the microphone situated at the bottom.

But … it doesn’t seem to be completely broken, here’s what’s happening:

When I have a call, the person here’s a lot of static noise, but sometimes also my voice, and sometimes the voice is clear enough and there is less static. Does it mean it can still be salvaged/repaired? If so, does any of you know how I could do that?

Thank you in advance to anyone who will take the time to answer me and give me some advice/guidance.

Warm regards,
Charlie

iPhone XR: Screen Unresponsive, Ghost Touch

My daughter's iPhone XR started developing some weird symptoms where without input, it opens up apps, scrolls between screens, etc... After some googling, found that this is referred to as ghost touch or something. Couldn't find what the fix is to this problem though.

I tried resetting the iPhone to factory settings, even tried doing a reset/restore in DFU mode, to no avail. I wanna say this is maybe a hardware issue with the display (digitizer/glass) more so than a software issue. She had a case on it from day 1 but did drop it a few times, and even had a small crack on the screen towards one corner, not too bad though.

This being the case, I'm willing to replace the display myself, but before I shell out $100 on a new one, I wanted to see if anybody else experienced this issue and if so, did replacing the display fix the problem?

iPhone XR: Face ID sensor pushing on the back of screen and breaking it

Hello all,

I work at a repair shop and we had an iPhone XR come back with a breakage on the LCD from the inside. Upon inspecting I saw that the Face ID unit, that is not screwed in for whatever reason, was slightly out of place, causing it to press on the back of the screen and making it break. After pushing the sensor back into place and carefully checking that it was still in the correct position before closing the phone, we gave it back to the customer. It is now two days later and the customer is here again with the same problem.

Has anyone had this same issue or can offer any solutions?

Thank you,

iPhone XR: Guide for replacing lightning connector?

Can someone or iFixit make guide to remove/replace the lightning connector/lower microphone assembly? I had to use multiple different guides to remove the logic board, Taptic Engine and lower speaker. Then I just needed to figure out on my own how to actually remove the connector assembly on my own. I kind of wish I knew about replacing the speaker grill gasket so I could try to keep some of the phones dust/water resistance rating.

This was my first phone repair too so I didn’t even think to replace the screen adhesive.

iPhone XR: New screen -- Face ID not working

Hey all. I had a pretty badly cracked iPhone screen. Face ID and tap to wake both worked even though the screen was toast. However, now that the screen is replaced I am having a handful of different issues.

-FaceID is not working anymore. It says “FaceID is not available” when trying to set it up in settings.

-Screen will randomly click and move all over the place. I will have to shut off the screen and wait a few seconds for it to stop. When my phone is locked it will move so much that a “please wait 2 minutes before trying again” security message.

-Tap to wake also does not work. I have to use the side button to unlock it every time. That’s super annoying haha.

iPhone XR: iPhone XR Dead, but Boot Loops on Charger? Dies when unplugged.

I just did a back glass replacement on an iPhone XR. Everything seemed to go fine. It displayed a red battery sign last night saying it was dead, so I charged it for a bit and it never came back on, but after reseting it it went into recovery mode. When I unplugged it to connect to a computer, it died. When I return it to the charger it starts looping the Apple logo again (about 5 seconds off, 2-3 seconds on, repeat). It only stops if I act like I”m reseting it, then it will enter recovery mode.

It is not recognized, nor starts to charge when connected to a computer.

iPhone XR: iPhone XR true tone not working despite using Qianli iCopy

SOLVED:
I got my True Tone by using JC Repair Assistant. Apparently, the MtSN which 3utools provided was incorrect.

Hello everyone,

I have a problem to re-enable True Tone function on the iPhone XR despite copying the serial to the new screen.

My young brother dropped his iPhone XR and made a crack on his front screen. I managed to get a pulled front screen and replaced it. I also transfered the cracked screen's ear speaker with the attached sensors.

After replacement, I turned on the iPhone XR and everything was working, screen, touch, Face ID and ear speaker. Only function that is missing - True Tone.

I used the Qian Li's iCopy Plus 2.x to copy the data, however my cracked screen's cable broke. So I used 3uTools to copy the "Cover Board Number" and paste it in Qian Li computer software ("MtSN").

Qian Li software and Qian Li iCopy Plus device say they both read and wrote the data succesfully. I followed YouTube videos to do this repair.

Unfortunately, it still does not work after writing the data 4 times. Does anyone else have experienced this problem before? Or did I do something wrong?

Thanks in advance and thanks for your time

iPhone XR: iPhone XR won't turn on after contact with water

Hey everyone

I've been using my iPhone XR which has several cracks and recently have been hit by a wave (yes, a very big one that caught me on the beach) whilst having the phone in my pocket.

I immediately turned off the phone (seemed to be working fine at that moment), dried it, put it in a bowl of rice later and left it there for 2 days.

Ever since then however, the phone won't turn on. I've tried holding the power button for longer times, connecting it to the power cable, doing a soft reset (up, down, power for 10+ seconds) - no reaction whatsoever.

As the phone didn't even get that wet, I'm a little bit stunned that it isn't turning on at all.

I wondered if there's anything I can do if maybe I open up the phone. Check for remaining water, replugging back some cables whatsoever.

Has anyone had a similar experience and been able to revive his phone? I would very much appreciate your help then!

Thank you very much in advance :-)
