iPod Nano 3rd Generation: New battery, no battery icon.

I just installed a new battery in my Nano 3rd gen. It now powers up but has no battery icon at all. At the top of the screen is the bar where it should be, but no icon. The bar is a purplish color. I don’t know if the battery is charging when plugged in. And it will not sync with a computer. I’ve tried all the online remedies of restarting etc to no avail. I think the Nano itself may be malfunctioning, but not sure. Anyone had these symptoms?

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: Freezing every two hours

I recently found my old ipod I got in seventh grade, and use it at work. I work at a warehouse, so it's long hours, but fast work. And the battery is definitely skipping performance wise after 11 years, but it still gets me through about two shifts on one charge, so that's cool. The thing is that after about two hours of nonstop playing, the music will just stop. I've got the toggle switch on lock, so I don't accidently mess with any controls with it in my pocket. When I pull it out and slide the toggle switch to unlock I can't do anything. It's still stuck on the kinda hibernate screen that shows the time and battery level. Nothing I do on the click wheel wakes it, so I gotta reboot it every time to get it back in and working. Which would be fine if I weren't working a very time oriented job where I can't keep wasting a minute to reset my mp3 player. I doubt there's a fix to it other than what I'm doing; and I'm sure it's most likely because of its age, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows why it's doing this. It never happened when I'd use it for hours on end years ago. I got it synced up to iTunes and updated, and accidentally reformatted it, which I'm sad about because I had a lot of good old stuff on it, but that's neither here nor there. It's up to date as much as it can be, and there's only a gig of stuff on it, with seven left.

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: Click wheel totally inoperable.

My ipod nano 3rd gen will power on and respond to the hold button. I have reset it from the computer but it will not reset from the scroll wheel no matter what I do. Everything except the scroll wheel seems to be fine so I sent it off to get it get it looked at at a recommended website thinking it shouldn't cost much since I thought it would just be the scroll wheel. They said it would be $150 and that it needed a new logic and face plate. I was quite surprised at both since its face plate was fine and I figured the logic board was fine too since only the scroll wheel seems to not work. Does it sound like the scroll wheel is the only problem and the site was just trying to make some $, or should I replace it all?

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: Backplate pulling off the front face, click wheel play

So I just purchased a used iPod Nano 3g from Tokyo, I`m sure it was non-functional in some way and has since been repaired. It has a few quirks, but the price was right and I`m comfortable pulling it apart. I tried looking online for some answers but since it`s an older model, I had troubles isolating the issues specifically.

First, I noticed that the clickwheel has a millimeter of play before the button actually clicks, it also depresses down when the middle button is pushed. The left, top and bottom of the clickwheel is solid however. All buttons are fully functional.

My biggest grip is that the silver backplate lifts off the frame around the lower right corner. I can push it down and it stays for a while, but it always lifts back off. I`m assuming that the previous owner damaged the corner clip when repairing the iPod, but I`m not sure whether it`s the front or rear face that needs replacing?

If anyone has any ideas, it would really help me out. Thanks in advance for any comments.

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: iPod nano gen3 software problem

My ipod nano gen 3 doesn't load his operating system. I thought it was because of low charge but when i charged him nothing happened. It is my old ipod and it is important for me as memory. I wanted to recover him but i used apple mac and i connected ipod to finder and after "preparing" mac said that software is unavailable. I used other windows computer and i get error 1675 from itunes, problem with communication. I opened back cover because i thought that maybe sething happened inside. Also i cannot access to files on my ipod from computer. I bought new cable and it haven't change nothing also i cannot Boot it because it only react to main and select button to restart. I wanted to download Rockbox software but i cannot access my ipod from computer to load software. I have a suspicion that this is because of problem with NAND flesh memory chip. I want to change this chip, but i have read that i need to program my new chip before replacing but i have no idea how to do it. Can you help me to solve this problem?
