Had a problem with my 360 slim. Green power dot no rings. Fan going but what caught my eye was the hdd wasn't spinning up. So I found it wasn't (because of a fall perhaps) seated inside properly. Upon opening and taking it out, I switched it on without it in and bingo. It finally worked. Stuck the drive back in and everything was back to normal. Another cause can be a bent usb inner flange in the socket making contact (same symptoms). Good luck. Hope it helps
