If you'reyour phone is water damaged do not turn it on. The water travels faster when the phone is on and causes a lot of corrosion. To get rid of the water damage corrosion you'll have to take the motherboard out of the phone and clean it with Isopropyl Alcohol. You can do this using a tooth brush or try get your hands on an UltraSonic cleaner. You'll need to get a new battery as it is best to steer clear of water damaged batteries. If there is corrosion on the gold contact plates on the motherboard use an eraser to rub them off (do not use the toothbrush as it can cause scratches which you don't want). After cleaning it check over the components, you may see that some solder would have gone with the corrosion. Needless to say the rice trick is pretty much useless and a waste of time. Once you've cleaned the motherboard leave it for about 20-30 minutes to dry and then re-assemble the phone and put in the new battery. Hopefully if the corrosion isn't too bad this should work. You'll most likely need to replace a few parts in the phone like the charging block and LCD etc depending on how long you've left the water in the phone and whether you've turned it on or how heavy of rain it was. ALSO: Do NOT clean the battery or the LCD with the alcohol only the LCD connections can be cleaned. Hope this helps.
