This problem can happen if you disconnect the battery. You can tell if this is what happened because the year will say 1970. The best way to solve this is to connect to WiFi and sync to the correct time. Then, switch airplane mode on/off a few times, remove the SIM card, and power off your iPhone. yeah... the problem occurs when the time get reset to way back 1970 or so.. best way to solve this is to connect to a WiFi and sync the time then put the phone to Airplane mode for about twice.. remove the SIM card then power off your IPhone and on again then re-insert your SIM card... voila that's it, works like charm...
