Camera Turns on, the the right sounds are there

Turns on - Buttons react. Shutter snaps and lens moves. Camera functions seemingly but the LCD does not light up at all. Not a CCD problem. No view, noi menu, no backlit "black screen - it just looks like the camera is Off
