i use for that a cheap heat gun (~14$)

the temperature range is from 250°F to 1100°F

it can also be used for bga reflowing - but it's not as good as a real hot air station, even the cheap [http://www.aoyue.de/index.php/language/EN|gordak/aoyue] stations are better - but if you only need something like that for one or two boards - you can use a common heat gun
