Do you have access to an external USB keyboard & mouse/trackpad? I would give that a try so you can diagnose things.
Most likely you either had spilled something into your keyboard (it might even be dry now) or the battery is pressing from below interfering with the keyboard and trackpad.

The last possibility here is the keyboard/trackpad firmware needs to be upgraded. Under the '''About This Mac'''' click on the '''System Report...''' button to open the hardware profiler. Here we want to look at the USB section and we need to open the hub that lists the built-in keyboard & trackpad. Take a screenshot and post it in your question for us to see.

The trackpad in this series is the USB hub logic which both the keyboard and trackpad connect to. Then, the two signals travel up a common cable to the logic board [product|IF188-088] which is also a song possibility of failing if you got your system banged or wet.
