Hi,
 
Try scanning a long bond paper document using the computer to control the scan and check the result.
 
Scanning and copying use the same hardware in the printer, the difference being that copying prints the image of the document straight away, whilst scanning stores the image in the printer’s memory and allows you to elect what to do with it
