Why won't ubuntu work?

텍스트:

Thanks for the help so far, here's what's happened:
-I downloaded 'ubuntu-9.10-desktop-powerpc.iso' from the link given by David. I was surprised to find it was 705.3MB (5.3MB too big for a CD) so I followed the instructions on the site word by word but used a DVD instead, Disk Utility says: 'could not be completed'. What am I doing wrong?!

+I have now downloaded 'ubuntu-6.10-desktop-powerpc.iso'. It fits on a CD and now I can boot from it, thanks for all the help with getting it to work.

Why won't ubuntu work?

-Inspired by rj713's recent question about what linux OSs are available, I decided to put ubuntu on a CD. The Ubuntu site has no technical specifications so I downloaded the .iso file of version 9.10. Following the instructions on the site I used Disk Utility to burn the .iso file to a blank 700MB CD and was instructed to restart my system, put the disc in and read the instructions from there. When I bootup with the disc in the drive it ignores it and boots Mac OS X as usual. I tried holding option (alt) at start-up but it doesn't find it. The Ubuntu site is surprisingly unhelpful, please tell me what I have to do to use ubuntu from a disc like advertised on the site.
+Thanks for the help so far, here's what's happened:
-Here are my tech specs: Mac OS 10.4.11, PPC G4 800Mhz Processor, 256MB RAM, Combo Drive, 30GB Hard Drive
