I think you on a bit of a snipe hunt. The bottom cover insulator is not likely your issue as it would have been blistered from heat damage which it isn’t. Thats also true with the the uppercase insulator as well.

The smell you are searching for could be food caught under the keys. Do you remember having a spill or dripping food into the keys?

There could be an overheating component within the logic board that would offer up an acrid smell.

I would recommend you get a good thermal monitoring app like [https://www.tunabellysoftware.com/tgpro/|TG Pro] so you can better monitor your systems thermal sensors which will help focus you on where you need to look or what needs replacing.

So, put your system back together and lets get some better data.
