This is a bit late but... The normal battery also acts as the CMOS battery, thats why it is screwed into the C50D laptop. You most probably need to replace the battery. To test, remove the battery by removing the two screws it is attached with and then try turning on with power supply only. You may see a BIOS date update screen show itself... cheers.
