Why won't my 32GB CF card work?

I've got an iPod Classic 80 GB model that won't boot when I perform a compact flash conversion using this part:

or this part:

The CF card is good, as I've swapped it with the one working fine in my upgraded 32GB iPod mini.

Can anybody recommend an adapter that works for this upgrade, or perhaps explain why I may be barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks!

Yeah. Should have mentioned that. I tried formatting it both in HFS+, which I've read works best if you're primarily a Mac user, and in Fat, which I read works best with windows. No luck either way.

Yeah. And just to be sure, I tried it both ways.

Hmm... Can you put the original hard drive back into it, and see if it will work then?

Nope. Original hard drive was kaput, which was why it was for sale. I may have a line on another broken one of the same line. That should tell me if it's an adapter issue, or if there is more substantial trouble with the iPod.

If it can't read it, then I would have to conclude that the adaptor is bad. Can you boot it into disk mode, or diagnostic mode?

Hi,

i used the first adapter with an 1GB CF-Card to give it a try and it worked fine. I didn't used a special format and let it up to iTunes to format the card. Maybe its a problem with the compability between the adapter and the card.
