Network randomly dropping in and out all of a sudden?

I've had the phone for a while and it's been perfect with reception up until a few days ago it started getting a bit iffy on calls. I've not opened it up or dropped it or got it wet or anything like that, just normal use. The missus' phone is fine also.

Today I've noticed it's significantly worse where now it randomly finds and loses my network. It's not the outer band problem as even when it's just sat on the side it'll go in and out. The most I've had out of it today was 3 bars VERY briefly. Usually it's at one, sometimes two. Calls are very hit and miss right now.

Seems wifi keeps dropping out too and earlier the best I could get was Edge! Hardly ever reverts to 3G, usually just G.

Tried a case in vein but didn't do a thing.

I took the back off and made sure the antenna cable was firmly in and checked the little blue inductor which seemed fine but I removed it anyway and bridged with solder as I've seen that help others with this problem. No difference.

Took out my sim and put it in my missus' galaxy s2, great signal.

Any ideas? I really can't afford to buy a new phone right now.
