My rMBP is a bit quirky when charging.

Back Story: About a month or two ago I spilled water on my rMBP and I immediately turned it off and let it dry for several days, when I turned it back on to my horror I found that it would not hold a charge. I could turn it on and it would tell me "plugged in, not charging", but even with that it would turn off after about 5 minutes of usage. I came back home from University and basically ignored my laptop for about a month (I used my desktop). I shipped my desktop off to University a couple days ago and decided to see if there was any change in my laptops state. To my surprise it will now hold a charge! I've been using it the last two days without any real problem (besides what I'm about to explain).

The Problem: The laptop WILL charge now but only under certain circumstances. Basically I can only charge in increments of 1-2 hours at a time, keeping the magsafe 2 adapter in for any longer will switch it to "plugged in not charging" even if it isn't at 100%. If I take the charger out and immediately plug it back in it is a no-go. I have to wait at least 30 minutes before charging again. I was hoping that there might be a (under $200) solution to fixing this small quirk? I can live with this defect but I would prefer not to. I have Apple care but told apple about the water and they've basically black-listed me from any help at this point. (I have done a pram/smc reset).

The logic board is pretty well protected from minor spills to the keyboard. Your use of an external keyboard speaks well for the logic board. I would replace the top case and the MagSafe board and then see if your trackpad has any damage.

Everything else is fine, I have only had trouble with charging. The keyboard, trackpad, speakers, usb, hdmi, screen are all fine.

This is a bit of a puzzle, water shouldn't hurt it to bad unless it has a high quantity of salt or other minerals. My guess is that the sensor for the battery is just gone a little funky.

Hope this helps,
