I used ifixit.com to replace the cracked screen on my MacBook Pro
New 15" screen for MacBook Pro only powers up to a very dim point. Does this mean I recieved the incorrect screen model?

machead3 is correct, it's the inverter, hold a flashlight up to the screen and look closely (while computer is powered on).You should be able to read what is on the screen. The inverter is not powering the backlight so you are not able to see what is on the screen.
