problem for booting, then blown part on logic board
Hi guys,
Two weeks ago, I bought a second hand MBP 17" mid 2009 model A1297 with 3.06ghz C2duo and 8gb RAM.
My mac refused to boot yesterday. I try several times but nothing. Then I rebooted the SMC and finally the computer started to work but with a weird smell of chemical smoke.
The computer seemed to work but i shut it off because I was scared by this smell.
I opened it and I found a blown element on the logic board:

Now, I don't want to use it anymore without indentify this element and changing it.
What kind of problem is it? overvoltage?
Do you think that a complete logic board replacement would it be necessary?
Thanks for reading this article and sorry for my bad english.
Best regards.
Igor

Thank you very much OldTurkey, I zoomed the image, this is the number below the component: http://hpics.li/f2add64 it is Q4260. How can we be sure that Q4260 matches with NDS9407?
Many thanks.
