Display Glass Loose at bottom

I have Mid 2009 Macbook Pro...Works fine. Some dust and debris has gotten under the display glass. More than likely I'll follow the guide to take off the glass however my concern is if I go through all the trouble to take it off and clean underneath how do I get the glass to stay? Of course some type of adhesive but what would you recommend? Thanks

First here's the iFixIt guide to remove the front glass iFixIt guide

In this case you shouldn't need any adhesive as the glue Apple used is heat activated. Once you have taking things apart make sure not to touch the glue areas. Then re-assemble and where the step had you using a heat gun you'll do it again and this time press the glass down evenly with a gloved hand (so you don't burn your self from the heat).

So far I've replaced about six cover glass panels and have not needed to add any glue.

If you do find the glue is not reactivating for some reason, you could try using a glue gun adhesive.

Update

Ok so you think once I go through this process and using the heat gun and what not I should be ok? Makes me nervous because the bottom of the glass is no longer stuck to the bezel i can go as far as to stick something in there, thats how loose it is...Wouldnt a glue gun adhesive make it too permanent? or would that just loosen up again with the heat gun? Thanks

The heat from the heat gun has two benefits: first it softens the adhesion of the glue so you can pull the glass off. It also reactivates the glue making a better bond which is why I use it again after I have replaced the glass.

In your case it's possible the glue strip has become loaded up with dust so it has lost it's stickiness, in which case Mayers' link to the adhesive strips would be a better way by replacing the current strips with fresh ones.

Don't forget you'll need to remove completely the old strip and any glue residue before putting the new one down otherwise the glass won't lay flat.

As to the glue gun adhesive it too would soften with the heat gun heat (using the lower temp glue) so it would work on a small area. I wouldn't use it to to the entire side and you would need to be quick as you don't want it to create a bump butting it down and heating a large area for the glue gun glue to soften to remove the glass again would be a problem. Just like most things, use in moderation.
