Can I skip some steps in disassembly my iMac 5.1 like (speakers, logic board...) to reach Power supply? I'm not changing it, only replacing a faulty capacitor

Hi,
I don't see why you can't skip these steps. After removing the TFT panel you should have easy access to the power PCB. I exchanged a HDD on a similar unit, and did not need to remove the logic board or speakers.

Only problem is disconnecting the power cable, because the heat sink is on he way, but i can always unsolder it from power supply unit. At firs it looks so scary, but after iI was thinking a little , it's very easy disassembly
Studying the step by step guides, I now see what you mean. When removing the HDD you can't gain access to the AC connector from the side ?
Unsoldering the AC wires is an option too, but I would prefer to remove the logic board. It can't be that hard and it keeps you in shape !.
