Connector #1 seems to snap, but still comes loose

Any tips on getting connector #1 (powers the LCD display) to firmly connect? I've filled around, and can't get it right (though phone working now, just worried it will work its way loose). Thanks!

Hi rockwood,

Based on my experience, you need to hear it snap into place.

Here is the way I close my iPhone 3G after having it opened: While I am holding the upper part in an angle of about 30 degrees with my left hand (I am right handed), I take an iPhone/iPod opening tool (right hand) and press it on the connector #1. It usually snaps in.

Don't worry, since once it does that, it usually does not get loose (unless you would drop the iPhone).

Steffen, thanks so much. I think the connector must be slightly damaged, but after a lot of trial and error, i finally got it to connect. Now my problem is to to firmly connect the earphone cable. I have an Asian version where the connector slides in horizontally. Guess i need some really special tweezers!

Hi rockwood, thank you for your reply. Are you able to take a picture of the earphone cable/connector? I am interested how the Asian version looks like.
