Where would I find the administrative password for manual repair?

Is this a BIOS or Windows password? If the BIOS is locked, you can usually get in without anything crazy (outside of HP and Lenovo), but I'm not assisting in that regard. It isn't hard, but you’re on your own finding out how.

Windows passwords are easy to fix and I don’t mind providing instructions for this. You just need to find a utility that will work. HOWEVER, the issue with Win8.x is it makes this significantly more difficult because you need to disable Secure Boot first, but once you do you can get in. The caveat is it may be stuck off permanently unless you do not tamper with the OS. Microsoft got good with security after Windows 7, after being a laughingstock for generations.

This isn’t an issue with Win7 as it is not affected, since you can use Kon-Boot (or a similar tool) without any negative consequences.

You can also use Command prompt as well:

• Press F8 at startup
• select Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Let it boot into Command prompt.
  • Use your install DVD if you have problems at all with the existing install.
• Enter netuser in Command Prompt.
• Find your username. Enter netuser username password.
• Put the account in question in place of username
• Reset your password.
