Sleep button reinstall - Button is not clicking down

I'm in the middle of a iPhone 4s repair and am trying to install the power/sleep button but I can't get it to click down when it's screwed in.

I've tried looking up the problem but found no definitive answer. The button is in the correct orientation, and the only thing I found that might be plausible is that I am missing a little black dot on the button and that's why it's not clicking...

Not sure what to do at this point, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

A little black dot on the cable where the button clicks down. I was able to physically click it without the button, but not with.

is the power cable attached to the stator(pic above)... thats the only reason i can figure the button cannot reach the contact point... if the cable is glued to that stator and the stator is screwed down all the way, you shouldnt be having this problem unless the contact on the cable is missing

Yea, the strator is glued and screwed/pinned to the cable. On the cable the gold contact point is there and secure. On the button itself, it's all silver and at the contact point there's just a visable circle. Everything on the button seems to be in place.

when you put the silver button in, is the little handle all the way down? dont worry, noting is supposed to be attached to the actual power button with the exception of that little handle on the button... that little handle on the button allows it to press... when installed it has to be all the way down so that its against the button itself...

and that black dot in the middle of the gold circle on the cable, is it there?

The little handle is all the way down on the silver button, and the black dot on the gold circle on the cable is missing.

does it push down at all?

if it doesnt its because the little handle on the power button needs to be against the button when placed inside of the phone... if its out it will prevent the button from pushing down.

if it pushes down but no click then yes it could be the contact on the power side of the proximity sensor cable is missing and needs to be replace in all... you will have to buy a new proximity sensor...

p.s. make sure the black part attached to the power button cable to screw it in place is screwed in all the way because if it loosens that could be another problem too...

Ok, when I place the button the the proximity sensor while not installed, the button will not click down at all. I looked up new proximity sensors and they all have this little black dot on them, while the one I have doesn't.

What is that little black dot? Is there anyway I temporarily fix it? I will really have no time to have another proximity sensor shipped to me...

that little black button is the actual button that the piece pushes down on for a response... there is no temporary fix unless you know how to operate without the power button... if you dont have the time i would suggest paying the extra for one day shipping...

So it acts as a spacer, yes? I put an edit in that last post but I see it didn't go through.

I ended up putting the button and sensor in, did find out that the button moves but there's no contact. I took the sensor out again and put a little piece of electrical tape on it, where the black dot should be and reinstalled it. The button now gives a faint click when pressed. I think I'm going to apply another piece of tape and try it again.

Have you thought about just leaving the screws a little unscrewed? That's done it for me. Even pulled apart "never before opened" phones and found those two screws being slightly unscrewed.
