Try reinstalling osx again, or replace HDD?
About a year ago my early 2008 iMac 2.4GHz 20" 1GB(upgraded to 2GB) 250GB machine started giving us issues after some power outages. It would freeze, or grey screen, or blue screen, and that was about it. I eventually erased the OS and reinstalled it. Have been using it almost a year since then, but it's never been quite "right". Yesterday it started doing it again. I ran the Apple Extended Hardware Test and got: Error code 4HDD/11/40000004: SATA (0,0)
Which I've found is a hard drive issue. Then I ran disk utility (which by the way, for MacHD, said "Mount Point: Not Mounted" if that matters) and it gave me "Invalid Record Count", "Volume Check Failed", and "Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed"
I'm not a big techie (that's why I own a Mac) so I don't speak alot of the lingo. Essentially, from this point would an erase and reinstall be worth it at all, or should I just go ahead and replace the HDD?
I did search around but couldn't find anything about when to give up... Great site by the way!
Thanks

At the end of it all I used the ifixit repair guide to install a new HDD. $30 = a brand new iMac.
