Why apple logo turns black and screen resolution low?

After replacing the home button on an iphone 5 the screen shows burn in app icons and when it starts the apple logo is black and screen white. After it starts screen resolution is definitely not retina display anymore and it's darker, less bright. Tried redoing the whole process same results. Please advise.
