MBP does not charge any of my batteries
Hello all, I'm part celebrating and part commiserating! I just followed the guide here and replaced the logic board in my A1260 MBP! It is was mostly successful so I'm very pleased, but unfortunately it is not able to see/charge batteries.
To back-track a little - the Macbook Pro died some time ago; it would boot up without a chime, the screen was grey and the sleep light would remain lit, but nothing else. I decided to try another logic board and managed to find a used one on eBay which was advertised as functioning fine apart from some erratic behaviour with the fans. (in the words of the seller "They weren't always on, but sometimes would go really fast then the fan would just stop again"). I thought this was perfectly normal so decided to buy the board and try it. I'm happy to report that I've now installed it and my MBP is working again. HOWEVER, it no longer sees any battery installed in it. I've tried 3 so far, at least one of which should definitely work. The battery status icon in the menu bar has a cross though it. The System Profiler indicates that no battery is installed. I get the same results from all 3 batteries. The LED status on my MagSafe connector is Green.
So far I've reset power manager twice to no avail. Is it possible I didn't connect a cable properly when installing the logic board? If so, which on is it? (The only difficulty I had when doing the logic board installation is fitting the main grey power connector - it was a much tighter fit on the new board then it was on the original one. Perhaps it's not fully secure?)
Finally, this may be relevant or just a coincidence: I also have another MBP, a A1211, and this had developed the same fault of not being able to charge batteries, and I was using the same batteries in this machine while the other one was dead, but they were known working batteries).
All advice welcome. Thanks!
