iPhone 4 not charging and turning on

2 days ago I installed a new screen on my iphone 4 CDMA. Before I installed the new screen, my phone was working fine. Well afterwords I turned it on and noticed my home button didn't work, I had no sound and phone wouldn't charge. But i know that my phone reconized that the charging cable was plugged in because when I unplugged the battery and hooked back up the dock connector cable, the apple logo showed up when I plugged in my chargerer. I was able to get it charging 3 times by pressing hard on the speaker unit on the side that the dock connector cable sits. But then it stopped and i couldnt get it to charge anymore. So my phone died. The next day before I left for work I plugged it in and when I came home, the battery dead logo was still showing like it was the previous day. So after searching online, I concuded I needed a new dock connector. Today I installed it and turned on my phone and it was at 100% but would shut off ocasonally. Then it just turned off all together and now it only turns on and shows the battery dead logo if I plug my phone into the charger. If I unplug the charger the screen shuts off and i cant turn it on. I've tried cleaning the dock connector connection and battery connection with isopropyl with no success. Have tried restoring it multiple times but it just extracts the software and then says waiting for iphone and iphone just show shuts off and then show battery dead logo and then itunes says error occured, cant restore. and I have tried multiple resets but that doesn't work. I don't think it could be the battery because I replaced that 3 months ago. Please help, have scowered the internet for answers with no prevail. I am contemplating buying a new battery because that's the only other thing that could cause this, I would think. The connector on the battery does seem to be lifting and i can see circuitry inside i believe. I am letting my phone sit for 10-20 mins with the battery and dock connecter cable unhooked to see if it turns on because it did after I replaced the dock connector earlier today. I will add an update later with the results.

*UPDATE* I tried leaving the connections off for 20 mins and recleaned them with isopropyl with no success. So I ordered a new battery and will get it tomorrow. I will add another update if that fixes my issue. I believe it will because when I took the battery commplety out and plugged in my charger, the phone turned on but showed the plug into itunes screen. So obviously having the battery in it does nothing.

Did you have sound with the new dock connector, (when you plug in the battery do you hear the the beep?) I would check the dock connector on the logic board make sure it is clean and look for any missing filters and resistors around that connector. Next take a look at your battery connector solder joints make sure you didn't damage any. If you don't see any problems then I would replace the battery.

I don't know if I have sound because when I replaced the dock connector yesterday and it turned on for a short while, my phone I think was in vibrate mode on accident. But my home button does work. The battery looks fine and it doesn't look like there are any missing filters or resisters. But it is hard to tell. I will find a magnefying glass and update tomorrow after I replace the battery. Thanks

So I replaced my battery and my phone works now. I have sound but no home button. I think the cable is bad. But I just replaced that 3-4 months ago as we'll and I don't want to take apart the screen and phone just to replace it. So I'm just using the assistive touch setting in accessibility settings. I will use this till I can get the iPhone 6 in fall.
