Recipient cannot hear me unless I'm on loud speaker.

I recently replaced an iPhone screen on my iPhone 4S and now when I call someone, the recipient is unable to hear me, unless I switch to loud speaker.

Where could this problem stem from? It's very strange how they can only hear me when on loud speaker

Sounds like the mic is out on the dock connector. The reason they can hear you on speaker phone is because the phone uses the noise-canceling mic near the headphone jack.
