Deciding between iMac 27 and new base line Mac Pro

Hi I'm in the process of purchasing a new computer and have narrowed it down to two prospective macs, one being the top of the line imac late 2013 3.5ghz quad i7 with 3tb fusion drive and 8 gb ram with nvidia 780m 4gb graphics OR the base line Mac Pro shown here in the link. The left one.

Disregarding price which one would be the best option in terms of spec and performance disregarding hdd space as well. I will be unsigned it for basic things web and uni homework as well as some video editing music making and gaming as well. What I'm looking for is if someone could tell me their opinion as well as a detailed comparison. I would also like to add that the reason I chose the Mac Pro as well is the overall life time of the product.

If your a serious Mac user or planning on becoming one, get the pro. Then when you want to upgrade or need to, you won't have a paperweight.

I think you're asking a lot here. remember we're a voluntary supported forum.

I think Apples web site offers enough information on the differences of the systems so I would encourage you to spend the time reviewing it.

Many publications have done performance tests with both systems and the IFIXIT teardown gurus have rated each on repairability.

As you are listing your self a light weight user I would go with the iMac, if on the other hand you are planing on doing some large video editing then the Mac Pro would be better. If you plan to expand your system then the Mac Pro is also better, but if you want something that doesn't take a lot of space and doesn't have a lot of clutter then the iMac would be better.
