Can´t eject cd

Can´t start operative system properly (Leopard). Screen is black (it was striped once in green and other creepy bright colors but now it´s black, perhaps logic board or graphic card is badly hurt). I tried to insert Leopard-CD to start from but it didn´t help. Now It woun´t give me my CD back. I find no little hole beside the superdrive opening. I have tried holding down "mouse button" while starting, F12 and eject buttons and even sticking a metallic thread in the opening trying to hit some hidden button or so inside. Please help me!

Here are a few links to pages with some more suggestions for forcing a CD or DVD to eject. Given your particular situation, one other thing I'd suggest is to try to start up from an external hard drive. If the machine starts up, then try ejecting the CD.

Try pressing the on button then holding down click, this works for my eMac when it traps discs.

I've found that a small pair of tweezers can sometimes help in getting the CD out. Unfortunately, due to the way the PowerBooks (and first Macbook [Pros] were manufactured, the optical drive was placed in a position which could easily be damaged. In my experiences, the physical drive can become bent, thus preventing it from spitting optical media back out.

Thank you mister790. The right answer was: "Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject." yes it did! I found it on the guide.macrumors-link. Thanks a lot!

Press Hold Mouse Button when you listen the chimes start up sound, and maybe you can try with external USB Drive.

I have already suggested holding the mouse button, and I don't see how using an external drive will get the disc trapped in their internal drive out.

Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.

Glad you got it out with the Open Firmware command!

For disks stuck in drives that are defective (or a nonstandard disk or other item got inserted) and absolutely won't eject a disk no matter what you try, you can disassemble the computer and take the optical drive out, from where it's pretty simple to reassemble the drive and the computer. Of course the drive might have been damaged, in that case you'd want to replace it.

BTW two replacement drives I've installed didn't exactly match the bezel or opening, little screw holes or whatever didn't match up; you can make it fit by breaking those off, because the drive is held in sufficiently by its other connections. This can save returning what you think is a wrong part, which happened to me, and the replacement drive also didn't match. I forged on ahead anyway, and got a working drive in the end.
