My I pod is not opening

whenever i try opening my i pod it says connect to i tunes .i tried to connect it it keeps saying there is a passcode. i took it to best buy they said they dont know what is wrong. please tell me what to do

you have the restore it in dfu mode.

You will need to put it in DFU mode, then connect it to iTunes and restore it.

I would guess that the complete text on the screen is:

iPod is disabled

connect to itunes

is it your iPod ? (sorry for asking, but normally people dont forget codes they put into their own devices)
