Remove broken glass from LCD?
Hello,
I have the above mentioned iMac in my school computer lab. It fell off the desk and the glass broke. I have read the tutorials and I see how to remove the LCD from the computer but I'm not sure about the process of separating the glass from the LCD. Is it possible?
I have found replacement glass online so I imagine that I can just replace that part. Any direction would be great. Thanks!

I cracked my 27" EMC 2639 screen trying to remove it.
Quoted $1000 Australian for new screen + service costs. No way! I dislike Mavericks and can't change it so I'm not throwing good money after bad.
Crack caused a lost vertical strip of screen 4" wide top to bottom, greyed out..
I disconnected the two internal wiring strips to the screen and insulation taped up the connectors in the hope that it would not cause any further damage when I used an external screen.
Computer still functions 100% with external monitor but the fans run at full speed. I don't understand why. Does the screen have a heat-sensor connected through the wiring strips?
On my last 21" dual-core 3.06 gHz iMac I changed the magnetic disk HD to an SSD that caused the fans to go full speed but I easily rectified that by shorting out the heat sensor socket with a piece of wire (thanks iFixit).
