Area around initial insertion point for prying is shattered
I am attempting to replace the front panel assembly of my iPad 3 WiFi with the iFixit repair kit. Unfortunately, the area around the initial insertion point where you are supposed to insert the blue pry tool was shattered. I was able to get the pry tool into the recommended area near the mute button, but when I tried to insert the guitar pick, the glass crumbled apart and the crack moved downward, to the left of the area with the adhesive underneath.
Continued attempts to lift up the glass from the adhesive with the guitar pick crumbed apart more bits of glass.
Unfortunately, the blue pry tool is to mangled to insert anywhere else. Is there anything that I can do to try to get the front glass off?
I have a feeling that this is a lost cause.

Thank you. I went ahead and ordered an iSesamo. It looks like that will work better than the plastic pry tool. I wish now that it was part of the iFixit toolkit or at least a recommended purchase during checkout.
